Tire Concerns regarding wear length and for 6MT

Ok, so the tires that come with the 6MT are the summer rated 19"s. I live in Birmingham, AL, obvioulsy it really doesn't snow here except for the rare occassion, but between December and February it does get relatively cold (can get into the teens, but stays around the mid-30s). I know this isn't real cold, but I was wondering about the tires' performance in these conditions. If I am about to spend $40,000 on a new car, am I going to have to spend another $1000 on winter tires for those few months?

Also, what about life expectancy for these tires? Am I going to have to buy new tires for this car every 20,000 miles (if that)?

I test drove this car and loved it, but I just want to have all the facts before I dive in.

Thanks,

Tires will be fine. Not so great in snow but I have driven my car in below freezing with no snow on the road and I never had an issue.

You're good to go fancy pants... I'm in Atlanta and your weather isn't much different than mine. I didn't have any problems this past winter and didn't when I had my G35 either and was running summer performance tires on that car as well.

You don't need winter tires in Atlanta. I have 21.5K on them and they are in need of replacement because they are a super soft rubber compound that has great traction but wears quickly. To avoid this, just go with different tires when you replace them and get as much as twice the mileage or more depending on how you drive.
