Wheel Coating
#16
Ok, they did the refinish and I did complain. It's not a new finish. It's flat. The guy that did it said give it time to harden but I am skeptical. I learned that the wheels had previously been painted after being curbed, (remember it was a demo) and that is what I saw coming off. Besides not looking right, it probably won't hold up well. I may give this a rest but I think they owe me new wheels.

Don't give it a rest. They didn't match the finish so that's not acceptable. Sounds like they did a shoddy job of touching it up after some test driver curbed it hoping it would look good enough to sell then never see it again.

Good advice for anyone in a similar situation. When buying a demo, ask about any hidden damage. I did get new wheels eventually but they tried to say that since it was a demo, a certain amount of wear and tear was acceptable. I reminded them that the salesman insisted the car was essentially the same as a new car and being sold as a new car and that the wheel damage was not revealed to me. They replaced the wheels and I agreed to act in good faith on an issue they found with my trade. Not a total win but a good compromise.
