What's the difference bewtween expensive rims and 2.5K ones?

I want Asanti AF130's on my G37.... however they cost like 4,800-5K (tires not included)! Now I went down to one of those little joe auto places to check out rims. dude told me what I'm lookin for in his shop would run 2,500 and that includes tires! But of course those rims look like plastic lol, is that the differnce between 2.5K rims and 5K rims?.... Also is it possible to get the little joe dealer to order the asanti's and get them shpped there?

Gotcha. I guess the OP wasn't quoting per wheel price but the total.

Quality, materials, construction all come into play here. the more you spend not always the better but hopefully. Also multi piece wheels vs single.

Why would you rather pay him 5k instead of someone else ?

Asanti are ok on some cars usually big Lux. Sedans to me there out of place on a car like the G which is a little more sport than lux. but to each their own.

Go look at Work, HRE, I-forge, Wald, Auto-cultoure Etc. which to me a better place to drop 5k on wheels if you have too.

I would go with the SSR Vienna LM-9. These are 3 piece light weight wheels. And it has the built in tpms sensor.

More Japan

Those wheels like HRE and Forgiato are expensive because they are 3-pece forged wheels using areospace grade 6061t6 aluminum.

It starts off with a piece of aluminum, they cut the design into it...then they are bolted on to to the inner and outer part of the wheel....each wheel is manually aligned...then comes the brush finish and clear coat

as opposed to a 1 piece cast wheel, that comes ready made in a box from china.....it comes from a mold and uses inferior quality....they are much heavier, bend easier, and tend to give leaking problems

the cost for the manufacturer of the 3 piece wheels is double the RETAIL price of the cast wheel
