Tire Size
Maybe a dumb question, but can any of you help me understand the reasoning behind the different tire sizes on the G37 Sport Model vs the Journey model. I'm assuming it's better performance-wise.....but I wanted to get insight as to how this affects tread wear/tire rotations. Also, if you replace the tires or get aftermarket rims in the future, can you get all the same size? I'm clueless...please educate.

The Sport model or the Journey with the Sport package comes with 19" rims instead of 18". Hence, the different tire sizes. I think they went with the larger 19" because the Sport models also include 14" brake rotors in the front and 13.8" in the back. The base model and Journey model without Sport package comes with 13" rotors so 18" rims fit. The G coupes come with a staggered setup which means the tires in the rear are wider than the ones in the front. You can't rotate them like you can on traditional cars. If you get aftermarket rims, you would want to make sure they are staggered as well whether you go the same diameter or larger. Hope this helps.

I have a Maxima with staggered wheels from a 350Z. OE tire sizes are 225 (7" wide wheel) front/245 (8" wide wheel) rear, making rotation impossible. However, I put the same size tires on all 4 wheels (235). I can rotate tires now, but I must break down each wheel and actually have the tires swapped onto the proper wheels before replacing them on the car. Is there a point in having wider rear tires on a FWD car? Absolutely not from a practical standpoint. But I like the way they look on the car and it does corner better. If you get aftermarket wheels that will fit the G37, you could consider getting all 4 the same width so that you could rotate them normally and save a lot of money on tires.

^^you don't think doing that would mess with the driving dynamics of the car? I am wondering why Infiniti/Nissan does the staggered set up on these cars?
