winter tire package ... (thinking ahead)
OK ...
I looked at the specs page for the 2008 model. Here is the OEM tire packages:
standard 18s: 18 x 8J rim with 225/50/18 all-season 94V rated tires all around
19s: 19x 8.5 rim with 225/45/19 front tires; 19 x 9 rim with 245/40/19 rear tires
Here is my thinking: the tire size for the 19s are the same as the 1st gen G35 coupe. However, the 18s are all the same size (instead of staggered setup in the 1st gen).
Here is my question: Can we use a 17" winter tire package for the NON-SPORT model? (Note: 13" brakes front and back) I want to use a 17" rim with a 225/55/17 or 215/60/17 tire (probably leaning toward 225/55/17 tire since it's closer to OEM spec circumference and greater variety in tire choice). 18s cost far too much for winter use ... and where I live, winter tires are a must. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a feeling the bigger brake discs will make using 17s almost next to impossible. (And another reason why I would not get the sport model since this car, for me, will be daily driver purposes...)
Thanks in advance.

I am wondering the same thing, because a winter tire package will be my first major purchase for the G37. However, I am getting the sport, so I will probably go with an 18 inch wheel package. My only concern is finding a package that will clear the new calipers.

I have pretty much decided that I am going to go with 18' Dunlop Winter Sport M3 on a set of dedicated winter wheels. I think that they are decently priced and have a very good winter rating.

For example: if you had a 19x10.5 rim with +11 offset, you might have issues with rubbing if you are lowered (ie slammed). To avoid this issue, people will 'tuck' the rims (camber issues) or will 'roll fenders' or do other body modifications to make things fit. Another option is to keep OEM suspension setup. If you keep the OEM suspension setup, you might not have issues with rubbing (ie higher so more clearance).

OEM size for 18s in the G37c is 225/50/18. The fronts might be a little small and the rears are a little big but I don't think it's significant, considering that the overall size for the 18s is almost identical to the 19s (which are the same between 1st gen and 2nd gen G coupes). The main thing is rim width and offset -- you might "rub" if the offset is not high enough if the rims are wide. So those who like "deep dish" rims will more likely have issues with fitment.
