Motortrend Comparo GTR vs. LFA

Looks like the LFA proved itself against the GTR in this comparo, but the real problem the LFA has is proving itself against it's price tag.

When a car gets to that level, price is not really a concern.

It may barely outperform the GT-R on a drag strip, but the car is an engineering marvel.

why would they compare a gtr and lfa? lfa should be in comparison with the Mercedes sls or ferrari's.

The fact that its being compared to the GTR is good enough excuse for Nissan to throw one hell of a party lol

Because they're both Japanese, and they're the only "ultra high performance" Japanese cars.

I'd love to see how a "production trim" HSV-010 does against the LF-A.

The GT-R doesn't really compete with either of those...

It really shows when the GT-R was created with cost-cutting measures, and the LF-A wasn't. Imagine how much lighter the GT-R would be if it had the CF the LF-A does...

I'm sure the GTR will get most drivers around the in a lap faster than an lf-a. but i'm sure the lf-a will induce more smiles because it is so much more involviing. from what i can deduce from past reviews (since i have no experience with these cars whatsoever) is that the GTR is the stop watch king...the lf-a is a physical, visual, and audio experience. my stance is, anyone with the right money can make a fast car. but not everyone can make a car you'll love.

$400,000.00 Lexus is .1 sec faster than $100,000.00 GTR in the quarter? Could be it has better low-end torque?

If you watch the slow motion part, you could see the GTR launched before anyways

as an engineer i can fully appreciate the artistry of the LF-A...but you gotta give it to nissan as well....if you told me a few years back that they would make a 3800lbs car with only 480hp trap 120 in the 1/4 mile and hit 3.5s consistently from 0-60..i would have had some serious doubts. also their ring' time of 7:27 can't even be touched by porsche's 'revised' 997 turbo.

i wonder what kind of numbers we would see if the GT-R shed down to a fighting trim of 3200 lbs., that would be something to see. i believe the current spec V only shed 200 lbs.?
