Very nice!! Thinking about it, no intake cams will need to be replaced now, just a VVEL retune and you get the sexy idle! Now that's sick! I believe the exhaust cam though will still have to be replaced

VVEL = infinitely variable valve lift/duration.
Think VTEC, but with infinite number of crossovers instead of just one.
Example of VTEC:
Note the huge increase in power. The VTEC cam is optimized for power at high RPM, and that huge jump is from switching over from the 'low rpm' cam to the 'high rpm' cam.
Now, every given RPM has a 'best' lift duration and distance for ideal power, and ideal fuel economy. Most cars have one cam that compromises to give a combination of the two. Economy cars sacrifice power for MPG, and performance cars sacrifice MPG for output. The Honda K20 is a perfect example. Two major variations exist, one with 160hp and one with 200hp. The 160hp version on average achieves about 30% better fuel economy, for a 20% drop in output.

So exactly what can come of properly adjusting this thing...? Technically and in lemans terms, and what are the risks of adjusting poorly? I feel like if the adjustment is within the bounds of the hardware on the engine, there couldn't be a risk of breaking anything. IE Your not adding forced induction or anything, just adjusting the angle of the cam thingys or whatever... But I do not know much about the VQ nor engines that function in this way...

you guys are two blinded by your anti-vtec-ness to realize the implications of what I am saying.
VVEL combines the best of both worlds. The two stages of a VTEC system is replaced with an infinitely adjustable system that allows for switching on the fly between output and MPG based on the driver's input. I use VTEC as an example, as it is the best known, and an (obviously) proven system.
Theoretically speaking, the system is already optimally tuned from the factory. Poor adjustment of this would result in decreased power or fuel economy or more likely, decreased power AND fuel economy. If taken to an extreme, it could theoretically cause engine failure, but no competant tuner would ever do that .
On the flip side, there is no system that allows for tuning VVEL, yet.

But if you adjusted it and make it have a bigger intake lobe it would then bring in more fuel and air for more power, right. So if you adjust the lobe and have the ECU tuned for the larger lobe the car should make more power. Theoretically, right? Of course sacrificing economy. Or am I on the wrong track?

Dieseldog: So you're saying you want to open the intake valve fully the whole time (as per say, have the effect of aftermarket intake cams).. I'm guessing yes, you would sacrifice some economy for a little more hp, you'll have to do something about the exhaust cams as well though to see full gains
