Ravspec ..horrible experience!

that just sounds stupid. Unless the non-refundable deposit comes with a guaranteed time such as ( will be less then 6 months). Who would be dumb enough to give a non-refundable deposit and get led on every month?

Body kits, bumpers, wings, etc.
The deposit is so that if the buyer backs out, they can sell the item at a reduced cost and not lose money.
And yes, any non-refundable deposit should come with a guarantee. No JDM parts take 6+ months to arrive, except a few odd pieces I know of which are only produced after they have enough orders for a run of at least 5 pieces. In this case, the deposit is not taken until the factory confirms that there are enough orders to start production.
Either way, both the consumer and vendor win.

Virtually every dealer I know of that gets authentic JDM parts requires a non-refundable deposit for any items they don't typically stock.

Seems very reasonable that a vendor would require a deposit for special order items. If the buyer backs out of the deal, then the deposit if forfit.
But if the vendor promises your item in a specified time window and they cannot fufill their end of the agreement, then the buyer should have every right to get a full refund of the deposit.
If Ravspec promised wheels within 16 weeks, then after that time a refund request should be granded without any questions. I am not saying 4-6 months is not a reasonable time to wait for custom made wheels, but if it takes that long a Vendor needs to be upfront that there is a posibility that it could take 6 months.

This is truly a sad story all around. I'm glad John got his money back, yet sorry he didn't get the wheels (which are f'ing beautiful BTW) he wanted. Ravspec hopefully has learned an extremely valuable lesson here.
And the rest of us... Just understand that ordering JDM is a serious situation and should expect significant delays in the process.

^ everything I've ordered from JDM has go to me within 3 months. (over 11k in parts) Even made to order parts, I don't know what ravspec is talking about... only 1 item took 6 mnoths, and it was the U.S. sellers fault, not the Japan company.
