Of course, my only knowledge of this incident is what is posted in this thread. However, I think people need to realize what it means to buy JDM parts. No offense, but many on this forum put **** parts on their car. They don't want to spend the money and they want the parts in a week. That's fine. However, that's just not how it works when you buy JDM parts.

I have never purchased from RAVSPEC, so I have no idea about their customer service. I do know that they sell quality parts and have been doing it for a while. I have noticed when other companies/vendors on this forum (I won't name names) screw something up or sell a poorly constructed part, everyone is quick to come to their defense. Thirty-seven threads are created shortly thereafter declaring them to be "The Best" available for the G. To be honest, it makes me nauseous.

I'm not suggesting that the OP does not have a right to be frustrated, but you're not buying wheels that are coming from Florida or California. A four month wait for a set of custom JDM wheels is not out of the ordinary at all. I'm sorry for your misfortunes, but it's part of the game. Those wheels are hott! Worth the wait, if you ask me...

Just saying... There seems to be a lot of bashing of this vendor from people looking in from the outside, as I am. I just figured I would offer an alternate viewpoint here.

Posted up the spec and try selling them in 4 different forums, hoping we can recover the cost of the shipping and still offer a refund to John.

In writing man. They "legally" owe the OP nothing but his wheels. They are doing him a HUGE FAVOR by offering any type of refund, be when they sell the wheels or not. Like "WPP" said.. People need to take into consideration the process that goes along with ordering JDM parts..

yeah i mean legally they are pretty much covered....even though the wording is SOOOOO broad, but it is legally done right to protect themselves from situations like this one unfortunately.

first of all, we always pick up our call. John call us a few times, and we DID response to him and I did spoke to him and advice him of the situation.

The only answer I was able to give him is the wheels are on production.

That may not be the answer he wants to hear, but that's the answer.

We reply to our email, our PM and always pick up our calls.

I think Ravspec did the right thing by issuing a refund even if they weren't obligated to do so. I m not taking anyone side but I hope more people learn from this thread and really do their research before placing that order. If u don't do well with uncertainty and would likely miss the cash if u couldn't get a refund, then like me JDM wheels or parts in general aren't for you. Unlike what someone said, there are more than enough great parts manufacturer for our cars stateside with guaranteed reasonable delivery time that it just isn't worth going thru the hassle.

Actually this is not true, I asked for a refund before the wheels were even finished and that was the reason I wanted the Refund otherwise I would've waited, please do not try and make me look bad because I called you out publically on this situation. Not once did you ever mension getting air shipping. Customer service was overall very horrible, Mark, you should call customers or email them at least once a month to give updates on their wheels. I had to keep calling every month even after you said "it should be on the container this month" (for 5 months). .....anyway I'm done with this, I just received your paypal refund this morning. Thanks for that. I hope this experience will educate you to focus on customer service instead of volume of sales.

I understand JDM parts take time to produce and I was prepared for it just like Mark told me on the phone "up to 16 weeks".. When the time is past double of your quoted worst case scenario, that's when things go downhill. If he at least called me to apologize and told me there were additional wait times for
this wheel due to (insert lie here), I wouldve felt much better since he would be giving me updates about it, not me constantly calling/emailing, and I probably wouldve kept the wheels.

People have been watching Fast and the Furious too much and think they can overnight parts from Japan...

However, I also believe that custom wheels should require a non-refundable deposit (20% or more), and the rest payable upon receipt of the wheels by the vendor.
