Battery Problem Solved?

I brought my car in for an oil change and a couple other things on 12/31/09, well needless to say it stayed for a couple days. I was having the problem where the car would die if not started daily, so luckily it died on the dealership.

They called and said they have a fix for it: a vent control valve was staying on. the invoice is as copied.

Infiniti Battery - 999M1 - QC24F (M battery)
Valve Assy - Control - 14935 - JF00A

The way i understand it to be, they replace my old POS battery with the same battery that is in the M and changed the Vent Control Valve. I dont know if that will help anyone. On the brighter side, the car is starting quicker and put off the purchase of the redtop.

Yes its fixed. Had this done today. They told me it was the "evaporative emissions valve"? Anyways, infiniti redesigned the part and they replaced it with the new one and upgraded the battery. We'll see how it goes.

Can anyone point out the TSB? I would like to see if my sedan is included. Dealer said there was no abnormal power draw but two OE batteries were dead in less than a year and I bought the 3rd one aftermarket.

I had to pay $20 something for my battery after they prorated it. they did a battery test and it came up as an "internal error.

so if the valve is staying on, and i had to also buy a yellow top, doesnt that mean it should fail out sometime soon too? or is the yellowtop that much better to always hold a charge even after 3 weeks of no driving

IDK it should have jumped with no issues. May not be the same problem.

Oh wait. I read that wrong. Yeah if jumping it didn't work then it is probably something else. Unless it is just that dead. Mine would die, but i was able to jump it.

Mine died on me last night. I was waiting in the car for about 15 minutes and had the radio on and my cell phone charging via cigarette adapter. I've done this countless times before and had no issues, but this time it died. Fortunately, a AAA truck just so happened to come by, so I flagged him down and they jumped my car.

I called the dealer this morning and they said they'd prorate the battery and it'd cost me about $60-$65 to replace it with a new one. They'll do a test first to see what the problem is, but I'm not down to pay that much for another OEM battery. Hopefully I can convince them to replace it via TSB if it comes out.

mine died b/c i was the idiot who fell asleep for 45 minutes in the car while the wife was shopping... roadside came in 45 minutes out in a busy Manhattan traffic day....

I haven't heard of any lately of newer production. It seems like maybe the cars that really sit at a dealership for longer than a few months might be an issue. I haven't had any call backs in a long time.

FINALLY got mine fixed for good today. Replaced the valve and gave me a new M battery. No charge and my car is 2 years old almost to the day.

How long did the service take you?

I really hope I can convince the dealer to replace my valve and battery for free. It's BS that I should have to pay for a new battery after two years.
