doesn't the car have to re-learn for a bit after reprograming the ECM?
Yes, the reprogramming restores all settings to their original, as delivered, points. Continued driving will allow the settings to adjust to your driving style.
thanks. Do you know then if they will reprogram it back or at least close to the orginal setting? What do most of the owners in here do, leave it at the new TSB setting or had it programed back/close to the oringal setting?
You can not reprogram it back. once the update is done then that's it.
Wes the car does have a relearn process that will take place that is dependent on you driving style/habbits and what type of fuel you use so kee that in mind and be glad that the noise is gone.

well, I think I have a different problem that the programing of the ECM did not help. My G37 have a valve tap noise that was present before the reprograming and after. The valve tap noise happens EVERYtime the engine is semi-warm and just at the precise moment the ignition is started. By 'semi-warm' I mean that when the tempurature gauge/needle is at about 1/4 mark. The tap noise is very similar to an engine that had just received an oil change and is being start-up. I have a feeling that timing is off, but then the noise is only happen when the engine is at that specific temp. anyone one recognize/experience the same problem? here is the link to another thread, appearently I am not the only one:
I just had mine done last week. I don't know what they did, just mentioned it to my service advisor and showed him the TSB. So far so good. Hopefully it stays that way.
