ITB07-007a TAPPING NOISE FROM DASH AREA
#31
you guys who think u have it but dont know, DONT have it! this usually occures when at a low speed and then you increase speed. The tapping increases with your speed and decreases with speed as well. it doesnt always happen just 20 percent of the time. SOMETIMES at higher speeds but rarely.

Guys would this apply for me :
Everytime I hit the slightest bump my dash board sounds liike its about to collaps, no exaggeration.
It really doesnt pend on the rpm, just the dam bumps it rattles like crazy

I actually have the same problem as you. Everytime I hit bumps I hear a creaking/tapping possbily coming from the center dash speaker. Next time I go in for an oil change I will bring this up to them.

I may know what it is
APPLIED VEHICLES:
2008 G37 Coupe (CV36)
APPLIED VINS:
G37 Coupe built before JNKCV64E(*)8M 125916
APPLIED DATES:
2008 G37 / G35 built before: 03-Apr-2008
A tapping noise coming from the dash area when the engine is running at operating temperature,
NOTE: This tapping noise, if it should occur, sounds like a screwdriver being tapped on the work bench.
The tapping speed increases and decrease with the engine RPM and may require engine RPM of about
3000 for the noise to be heard.

I think I have this now, lol, it was only a matter of time. I was hoping my G would spare me this. Add this to the laundry list of bugs. Sounds like a mouse being clicked from inside the dash on the drivers side. I am gonna make an appt tomorrow and take the TSB printout with me.

Mine just started doing it this week. Very annoying, especially since my dealer is over 100 miles away. The description for others that think they may have this problem is as others stated..... comes from the lower driver dash side. Sounds like someone clicking a mouse with increasing speed as your RPM's increase or another person said it sounded like an ignitor for a gas stove (how they click before the flame starts). Hopefully it shouldn't hurt the car to drive it in this condition Has everyone who's taken their car in for this problem gotten it resolved with the backflush?

Tapping Noise
It could be the oil that you guys are using. I've been doing alot of research on what oils to use for the 37 and ive discovered that people found a clicking noise or "tapping" noise if you wanna call it that because they havent been using the recommended oils. Synthetic motor oils that are ESTER based is what infiniti recommends (many ppl do not know about this) to keep the motor in its best shape. In a nutshell this ester basically causes less engine wear between metal parts and provides quicker revs.

I was wondering if anyone has done this? I'm planing to do Back-Flush myself and need to figure out how to connect garden hose to inlet and outlet hoses. I was thinking to use one of the garden hose adapters to minimize the mess, something like this
Watts 5/8 in. x 3/4 in. Plastic Barb x Garden Hose Coupling-A-484 at The Home Depot

Running Red Line 5w30(ester full-syn) for approx 300mi engine still has slight diesel ticking sound coming from VVEL so it did quiet down but not stopping it in my case. I have noticed the VQ37HR runs abit "stronger" compared the previously used M1 oil.
