brought my car in to replace muffler, and told them that my engine is making a loud ticking when the AC is on, rough idle etc. It turned out to be the ecu needed to be reprogramed. BTW, it's not as simple as pulling the battery cable either. the ticking went away, car drives much better.

Reprogrammed and reset are two different things. Pulling the battery cable = ECU reset.

I took my car in yesterday after seeing that my VIN# falls within range. The rattle for me wasn't even that bad.. the exhaust just sounded louder and more raspy during cold starts. But because I'm picky with my car, I decided to take it in to the dealership. Now I have a new muffler on order and will most likely get it replaced next week

So to those of you with even a slight rattle, it's worth a shot!

Thanks for this info. Took my car in and told them about the off and on mettalic noise I have been having and they said one of the baffles in the exhaust was bad and replaced it. They had one in stock which was awesome.

Think I'm getting jerked around...?

...as I've been told for more than six weeks now that a replacement muffler is on back-order...? I didn't buy the car locally cause the salesman wouldn't deal and is an all-around jerk, plus I saw him lurking around and seemingly scouling at me (not generally paranoid BTW) when I was last in the stealership...

This has already been discussed. If your replacement muffler part number does not end a "B", then you have (another) original version muffler, and it may very well go bad like the first. I have yet to hear of a "B" muffler going bad.

Let us know.

...or not so good different? I'm scheduled for next week. Thanks for the tip on the "B" nomenclature, notalk - I'll be looking for that before I let them put it on.

For those of you with the B muffler, how does it sound different?
