I think you would like the M37 7AT programming

For those of you who have issue with the 7AT in the G37 (I never did), I think you would find a vast improvement in the way the M37 7AT does its thing.

I'm speaking from 40K miles behind a 7AT in a '11 G37 Sport sedan, which was always in DS mode, when I say the 7AT in the M in Sport mode seems to have noticeably higher line pressure leading to much firmer, solid and confident shifts. The converter seems to stay locked up a lot more too. Forced downshifts are much faster and firmer too.

I also noticed when cruising the rolling grades in the GA mtns (which I have done twice a week for the last 5 years) the M holds the pre-set cruise control speed (75mph usually), while the G would likely lose 1-3 mph depending on the grade.

Now for all I know, the '13 G 7AT does the same thing the '13 M does, so I'm only speaking from my own experience with a '11 G.

THX UN1263, I'm on the fence justa baout to pull the trigger on a New 2013 M37X. Trading my 2010 G37X which DID have 7AT issues. Better since a TSB came out last June that Reflashed the ECU /TCM. The performance of the 7AT has given me hesitation (excuse the PUN) to go for it. I see the new Q50 coming soon uses the same rivetrain and 7AT - no chnages according to the Mag articles.

^^^I didn't know that. That said, I had an '11 G and this '13 M is night and day different.

I don't have any hesitation with my M37. What drive mode selection were you driving in?

I drove a '12 M37 as a loaner, and it was as big of a piece of shít as my '11 G37 was. Just bought a new truck (will be back to Infiniti one day), and it's amazing how much I've forgotten what it's like to drive a vehicle with an automatic tranny, that wasn't programmed by a complete moron. Even with the latest updates on my G, it just was never perfect. Still had occasional flares from 3-4, and in 7 it would hesitate to downshift. Smashing the gas in 7th took 3 seconds for it to actually downshift far enough to grab power. Sport mode still always tried to go into 7th, rather than keeping RPM's up. Not doing a complete stop at a stop sign caused the tranny to start out in 3rd, and no matter how light I would be on the throttle, it would always shift in the middle of the start of the accel away from the stop sign, yet in manual mode it never had this issue. Only in D or DS. I really hope the Q50 alleviates these problems, whether hybrid or not.

Disagree 100%, I love my M and would hardly call it a piece of **** ..... enjoy your truck.

Z's don't have that hesitation either. I never had a problem with mine but my Z's 7at sure seems to be a lot better at shifting both up and down. I never considered the G a "race" car and it was just fine for spirited driving.

I wasn't calling the M a piece of ****. I was calling the 7AT programming a piece of ****. The M37's I drove from the dealer, acted just like my G37. Confused, jerky, slippy, and reliably inconsistent.

You did call the M a piece of $hit. Check the first line of your post.

LexiG37: Yep, Just signed up the deal today. Hope to pick up my new M37X Black with Stone Deluxe Touring and Premium packages on Tuesday. It's been a personal internal struggle shopping for the replacement of my 2010 G37X. If you checked the Forum in the 7AT Reprogramming pages, I made many , many posts about my unhappiness with the 7AT. Along with hundreds of others.
I was close to a 2011 Audi A-6 3.0T ( a Nice understated car - German vs. Japanese [there IS a difference]. But the Audi Dealer wouldn't budge from the asking price for the car with premium Plus, Cold Weather package, and Navi of $35,600. After driving an M again, seeing the deluxe Touring interior, thinking about the transaction, {German Cars ARE very expensive to fix, though the car had 2 years or 26k miles of new car warranty}, I switche gears and decided on the M lease. I will say that in the test drives which this time were more extensive, I did sense some 7AT lagging, not as bad as my G at first, but it was there to some extent. G_Spot_37 PM'd me and also posted in the G forum that he brought his 2013 M in for service with 8K miles, mentioned the lagging, and his dealer service people Re-calibrated the Tranny....He say is now Golden!!! I can't find out what they did? Anyway, after looking at alot of cars (my wife says that I was obsessing {I Think I was}, I've settled on the M for 2 reasons: Infiniti brought back the Pull Ahead program - that eats my last 3 lease payments, and the $395 Dispo fee if I went elsewhere, And the M is "freakin'" beautiful, powerful enough, handles wonderfully, has good interior room, IMO looks muscular (although a bit dated on the exterior), Bose Surround sound (We'll see - the Bose radios are just OK). I think for the buck vs. MB, BMW, Audi & Lexus, it's the best value. The Acura TL is probably the best overall value out there (TL SH-AWD with Technology package), but the interior really needs to be redesigned. It had an excellent stereo sytem, btw, more room than the G, handled comparable to the G, but I'm Not Crazy about the styling...Regards to All.

I'll post pics (if I know how...) and first drive results when I can.

Keep us posted. I am considering both the A6 and the M. I feel the AWD is better in the audi as is he engine and tranny. However, German reliability has me wary. Your battles with the 7AT have kept me away from Infiniti.

Well the following sentence makes it awful hard to interpret any other way:

"I drove a '12 M37 as a loaner, and it was as big of a piece of shít as my '11 G37 was"

Did the loaner have the 7AT reprogram? You probably have no way of knowing that so your comment really isn't even remotely fair.
