It's basically for people to try to reach hellaflush status or be somewhere near it. Some people take it to ridiculous levels but most people here pull if off nicely. Lip or no lip, hellaflush does not discriminate.
But not wider tires? That leaves the rim exposed to more damage without tire protection.
Is this all to get a deeper lip?
Not to mention a safety issue for the tires...the sidewalls of tires are made to provide support vertically, and stretching the tire making it more horizontal takes away from it's integrity.
The tires on the sport OEM wheels are not stretched at all. Not even close.
They are not stretched in the eyes of the hella flush crowd but they do have a mild strectch, as any tire that goes inward towards the top can be considered stretched. I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.
I understand what you're saying. But some tires naturally have a more rounded shoulder profile and some are more square. Stretching a tire is putting a tire on a wheel that's designed for a wider tire than you're using. Putting the OEM 225 on the 8.5" wide wheel is not stretching at all becasue it is designed for a tire that width. Putting a 195 on the same wheel is stretching.
