I just went back and read your post. The "Snow" causes a 50/50 torque split between the front and rear wheels. The "sport" mode probably adjust suspension (the FX50 has this feature). However, "eco" mode is different. I'm guessing that this will throw the car into either all electric mode or hybrid mode. That tells me there is definitely a hybrid coming down the line.

That dial is for transmission modes. The interior shot was of the M56S so there's no AWD on it. The dial adjusts the transmission shift points; winter starts it off in 2nd gear, eco keeps the shift points at a lower RPM, sport allows the engine to rev higher before changing and holds the gears longer. Lots of cars have a feature like that.

They also did something between my 2007 M45 and my 2008 M45 too, because the "sport" seats and suspension mysteriously got a lot sportier (aka more uncomfortable) than the old "sport" model. I kinda suspect that my 2008 M45 sport wasn't actually a sport, but it was a lease and I returned it before I noticed the changes in the new one so I have no way to prove it. They're still screwing up with the other options too, the adjustable seat bolsters aren't adjustable enough, and every other competitor in this space has adjustable suspensions. They really need to get with the program on these little details, or at least offer the 20" wheels on the non-sport package.

Infiniti has been driving me nuts for my last 3 cars, with the way they package things. I really like the sport wheels a LOT better than the non-sport, but the sport suspension in uncomfortable, the sport seats are downright painful if you aren't a 110lb asian kid, and there is no reason you shouldn't be sporty + have AWD.

I think "eco" is short for economical? I believe the current M5/M6's have a "regular" mode, which provides 400hp, and saves gas. There is also "M" mode, which provides 500.
btw, not sure if it's mentioned here, but the new 2011 model will arrive in spring 2010. does this mean there will be NO 2010 infiniti M?

Yeah but you've never been able to do this with the M. You can't even get the M45x with the aluminum trim, let alone the good tires. I really hope they change the way this is packaged in the M56.

Yeah, I would guess it stands for something like "Economy mode" as in gas economy savings. It probably changes the transmission shifting into more of a "granny" mode which might not be aggressive or sporty shifting, but could improve your MPG. That would be my first guess at least.

There's an article on Top Gear that says the M will be RWD only (four wheel steering will be an option.
I don't know if that a "Europe-only" thing though. It's possible that they're not offering it in Europe to keep costs down (they're not offering the V8 there either, only gas and diesels V6s).
Ah, it's just as I thought, Car Magazine says that Europe won't get an AWD model but it will be available in North America.
