The FX50 is really nice
I had my car in for the one year service on Friday so the dealer gave me a loaner. I got a 2010 FX50S; it's a really nice vehicle. I used to drive a Dodge Durango so I was expecting some "heavy feeling" but it honestly feels like you driving a car, just with a big hood. You don't even feel that much higher off the ground.
If I needed a larger vehicle or something with more cargo capacity I would seriously consider it.

One other interesting thing is that it turns a lot tighter than I expected. I few times I made a tight turn only to discover I still have another 3/4 - 1 full turn left in the steering system. It really feels like a much smaller car when you're parking it. The "all around view" or whatever it's called when you're parking is really cool. It's just like as if you were hovering above the car to park it. The folding mirrors were a nice touch too.
My only complaint would be that side visability kind of sucks. With the high beltline and sloped rear passenger windows checking my blind spot when chaging lanes took a bit of practice. I suppose I could play around with the mirrors and my seating position a but more but the G has much better visability.
One question I did have, is what's the purpose of being able to manually adjust the headlights? The was a dial next to the side view mirror controls that allowed to (slightly) raise and lower aim of the headlights.

My dealer has mainly G37xS as loaners but they also have two G37S coupes, the FX50S, and a QX56. They used to have a M45S as a loaner but that was sold. They said theyre waiting for the second batch of the new Ms to come in around April and they'll set a M56S aside as a loaner. They said the first batch coming in March is all spoken for.

The only times I floored it was when I was accelerating to get onto the highway. It accelerated fasted and the engine (obviously) had a deeper note. My G revs pretty quickly but the FX was able to make a lot of power without having rev as high. Driving around the city I had to watch my speed very carefully as it was really easy to got 10 or 20 over the limit without realizing it.

the 2009 FX35's w/o the deluxe touring package has adjustable headlights to adjust them in case you are towing and the rear sags so you won't blind oncoming traffic... FX35's with the deluxe touring and FX50's don't have that switch b/c they have automatic leveling headlights standard... 2010 FX35's and FX50's with tech package are auto leveling and adaptive front lights

The FX50 is amazing for the price.
The handling comes partially from the electronically controlled shocks; they stiffen the 'outer' side in the middle of turns to improve cornering.
Course, you can just lock it into sport for maximum stiffness all the way around

The FX is by far my favorite SUV on the Market. I just love the muscular look of it. I am considering getting one when the lease on my G is up in November, but we'll see.

When I was looking to get rid of my G35, I test drove the G37 coupe, FX50 and EX35. I must say the FX50 was an amazing ride. The power and response was pretty surprising. It was big but it didnt feel as big as I expected. Very impressed overall.
