Getting Sunshield tint tomorrow, what can I get away with?
Going to Sunshield tomorrow to get tinted, what do you think I can get away with in L.A. (Hollywood and Santa Monica areas) in terms of cops? I was thinking maybe 30% or even 25%? I don't want to go Limo style but 35% seems a bit too light for me...

I hate to be a PITA again, but the issue is NOT whether you can avoid the cops, but if you’re going to have an accident at night because of restricted vision. California’s tint laws were not designed to give out tickets; but exist to enhance road safety and help control insurance costs.

I got 35/35/20, pretty satisfied with it as the main reason I got was to block UVs and keep heat out, vision at night was a factor to me. I can see out no problem..
Did it in about an hour for $125, I recommend them highly.

BTW, before someone brings up my age as an issue, they should know I have a commercial pilot’s license and have always passed the vision section of FAA required physicals. Having said that, I would never do anything to impair my vision, whether in an airplane or automobile.

Is it the EXACT same as no tint in terms of visibility....No of course not, but it's much more visibility than if I were wearing sunglasses at night.....also, my front windshield IS NOT tinted, 35/35/20 refers to front side window/rear side window/back window..
Anyways, I've "Cory Hart'd" it in my car a few times, had no problem seeing then either..

Sorry, I believe you’re rationalizing, like most owners in these threads who put 35% on their front windshield. Your claim that you can see out with no problem can only be true if your real name is Clark Kent and you have x-ray vision. But if you’re just mortal like the rest of us, your night vision is less than it should be for safe driving. Night driving can be demanding enough, but putting on the equivalent of sun glasses after dark to me is a problem.

I have 4% all around with a sun strip. I dont believe sun strips matter on how dark but how many inches you go down onto the wind shield im 2" over the legal limit and when i got my tint ticket i was not written up for that just the passenger and driver door...dont know if it helps but just FYI

I just went to Sunshield yesterday. Great experience. My rear side windows and rear window was already tinted @ 20 when I bought my car so I got 35 for my driver and passenger side door windows. 15 minutes and $60 later I was very happy. I will go back and get the windshield done.
