Anyone got tranny replaced in So Cal

Has anyone gotten a new tranny in So Cal? I'm being asked to authorize the tear down to look for the problem but if they find the problem is tear and wear, I'd have to cover the labor cost (5-6hrs). I've not heard of this anywhere else.

Btw, does anyone know where all the techs from Santa Monica went?

Grinding downshifting 5-4, 4-3, once each time. It didn't go into gear, popped back to N. I'm not doing anything differently. I'm tempted to just have them do the work and check out the internals to give me the peace of mind.

Dropped it off this morning for seat bubbling problem for the second time.

Maybe I'll just settle for new tranny fluid first and see if shifting gets smoother.

they shouldn't charge you. if you think there is a problem, then they should look at it under warranty. have a technician drive the car to confirm the problem. i don't think it's right for them to charge you for the labor.

They're not charging right now, just saying if then open it up and see that it's tear-and-wear, then I'd have to cover for the labor they performed :/

That is standard procedure.

If they open it up and you caused the damage, then you are responsible.

If you didn't cause the damage, then you have nothing to worry about.

I can't think of anything I did that could've caused anything. I guess I'll see if the tech can even reproduce the problem. I just don't want there to be something and they just say it's wear and tear, since I agreed on paying for the labor, I'd have no choice or even room to dispute it.

That is exactly what they want...

A lot of problems can't be reproduced, and they don't want to take it apart for no reason.

Go back when you can consistently reproduce the problem and save yourself a headache

Contact the Bureau for Automotive Repairs, I called them when I was having issues, they listed out all my concerns, contacted Infiniti and within a day the service manager called me back to see if there was anything she could do to assist.

They are legit and a state organization, they don't collect any fees for their work, and they have the ability to literally shut down a dealership for not performing services up to par with the norm. search on google, Bureau of Automotive Repair, it might take a day or two for them to respond, but after that, they are very thorough.

Evaporative Fuel Leak, they didn't take me seriously, and said I wasn't tightening my fuel cap enough. But by the 4th time, I was getting rather frustrated, contacted B.A.R., and they made sure my problem was fixed. Haven't had any problems since. From what I hear B.A.R. is a very scary organization for dealers, since they have such absoulte power in that sense. I bet you after you've established contact, the Service Manager for the dealership will be contacting you to get some *** kissin' time in.
