This car is truly a catch these days, when most sport trim sedans are “clapped” (as the kids say). And only 2 owners and ~6.7k miles/year. Not to mention clean title and unmodified.

Could very likely be the best 6mt G sedan on the market today. I think the catch is that most of the market is very young, and they’re looking for sub-$10k cars.

So I think it just comes down to waiting for the right buyer, which I’d think come from here or maybe the major car sales sites.

Good luck!

Agree with your assessment. On Reddit within the G37 sub, anytime someone posts a “what is this worth” thread, the initial responses are 5-6k for a car in good decent shape. I always challenge them to think about what kind of car you can buy for 5k and question their assumptions that cars continue to depreciate to zero over time. Functional value and desirability play a huge factor in deprecation. I can recall in the 80s-90s when Celica Supras were new and being discounted because nobody wanted to pay 30k for a 200hp car that “looks fast”; what are they worth now? I can think of countless other examples. As a lover of inherent RWD, reliable JDM sport sedans, the pickings are very slim. To be honest, I think Lexus is earmarking the IS for deletion and transitioning the ES into its role. FWD cars are much cheaper to build and TCO lower- few outside enthusiasts even know which wheels drive their car.

Yes, it's a fine car with all records, and as close to one owner as can be as i bought it from my best bud who lives nearby. Never driven by anybody under 40.
With two kids getting ready to get licenses, I need more practical cars for them, and don't want to continue to float extra cars on the insurance as that has gone way up the last couple of years.

And due to the popularity of the G within the younger crowd, insurance continues to go up.

Car is in a high risk vector. It was mid to low in the 2013 when I purchased.

the G costs the same as the other cars on my policy but I have 4 cars so it adds up - about 7 or 8 hundred per car. Rates will go up a lot when my kid finishes his permit though.by about 1.2K across the policy.

I'm comparing mine to the wife's much newer Honda Pilot and my son's Ford Ranger. Both cars are relatively inexpensive to insure compared to the G. I suspect that the actuary tables/risk models between the 3 are very different. Note that Mustangs suffer a similar fate. Even the slow 6 cyl models.

I'm intrigued by the idea of switching from a 7AT to a 6MT, and if you were closer I'd take a look, but you are 2500 miles away....

I'm in that club as well. I like that with a 6MT that I can build a TT motor and not worry about the transmission.

I've looked for conversions, but it would almost be easier to just buy a 6MT because you are also then able to change rear gear ratios without swapping out the diff and drive shaft..
