Hey @blnewt
I know they would be taller than the factory sized but on the 20x9 ET 35 Do you think I can get away with a 245/40/20 instead of 245/35? I have the Tein Street Basis coil overs I will be installing. I kind of want a little more sidewall. I guess I can go 255/35 but not sure if I can do that without extra camber.
Your thoughts?

Managed to bend one of my wheels this past fall and was thinking of stepping down a size to 19" (while upgrading wheels themselves) so it hopefully doesn't happen again. Here's my potential plan:
Weds SA-15R (color TBD, might powdercoat them, who knows)
19x9.5 +35 255/40
19x10.5 +45 285/35
Thoughts??

I've been very happy with the finish quality on my Wedsports, if you can see them in person I doubt you'd want to repaint them, but that's just my O.

Your sedan is lowered right? If so, that's a good setup, should have no issues other than a little rubbing of the felt fender liner for a while, it eventually wears enough that it's silent

Thanks for all your help, Brad.

safooma, depends on the wheel offset, but 255/35 would be a better choice than the 245/40. The taller tires aren't as much of an issue as a diameter variance front to back w/ AWD, so you are correct that the taller tires should be ok, but sticking w/ tires closer to oem diameter is the best plan, and when you add in the AWD system, being closest to stock is what I'd recommend.
And yeah, those 20" w/ taller sidewall tires will ride better (and look more reasonable) than those 22s on a G.

Drives much smoother and less slot-car like and no rubbing at all.

I actually think the Niches are nicer wheels, but I'm happy to sacrifice some looks for the improved driving manners.
What's everybody think? Good decision or bad? Note that the after pictures were taken with a cell phone camera when the car wasn't nearly as clean, but should be sufficient for comparison.....
