Last wednesday I took my car to the dealer to get some paint touched up, something they promised to do for free when I bought the car certified pre owned. They gave me a 2017 Q50 as a loaner, really nice car!
Unfortunately, in the VERY brief time I've had the loaner its experienced some damage!
First incident happened when I had to go to philly for a work event. Parked on the right of the street and someone hit the bumper while parallel parking. I didn't notice till I got home
Second incident happened on cinco de mayo. Went to the bar and ended up taking an uber home because driving drunk is not a good idea. When I returned to my car after leaving it at the bar over night there was MORE damage right above the paint rub! Looks like some jealous, drunk a-hole keyed it The scratch doesn't look accidental due to pattern and is on the bumper AND the tail light ...
I'm really nervous about returning this thing tomorrow. If they charge me its going to cost hundreds of dollars. I never signed any paperwork before taking the loaner and there was never a walk over to check for pre-existing damage. Do you think I could just say it was already there?
I wouldn't be too concerned over it, both of those scuffs look like they're just on the surface and can be buffed out. I don't think they'll even notice the second part, but if you brought it back with the white on it I think they'd say something.
So you are going the pass the buck? Own up to it the dealer if they find out you hid it can deny you a loaner in the future and even deny you service. This is why you have insurance

Well my car insurance is only going to cover anything over my $500 deductible so I would still be paying out of pocket up till that point. I did elect for the ding dent and scratch elective dealership insurance though .. does that roll over to the loaner while mine is in for service? If not my intention is to buff it out to the best of my ability. If they say something I'll explain. I agree that honesty is always the best policy, and I don't want to jeopardize my relationship with the dealer.
Does this sort of thing happen frequently to you all when going out to places? This ('13 g37 coupe) is my first coupe/fairly nice car. Now I'm a little paranoid of going to places with it.

Depends on where you live and where you park. If you live in the city and park it on the street a lot, expect a lot of scuffs on the bumper. If you live in a complex with tight parking spaces, expect a lot of door dings. If you have your own garage space and have mostly open parking in your daily commute, you'll be fine. I haven't had anything happen to my cars in the 4 years I've had them, knock on wood.
