An example
I got the same fabric off eBay and it was reasonably priced. I'm on the fence about putting it mine only because I already have a black interior, but the silver on our doors looks cheap to me

It's funny to me that those posts are from BMW forums because when I saw the pic r2dmax posted I immediately thought of the carbon trim in the last generation M3.

I actually didn't order mine from them. I believe you can still buy the fabric on eBay. I'll go and dig mine out and post a pic (as soon as I remember). But I think it's a nice look and option. Like I said, my nerves about doing it wrong has made me wait. I originally bought it for my Audi.. smh

Awesome! Thanks man. I think it is going to look pretty cool once I see those pics. I will check into this with my vinyl guy too to see if he is familiar with it. I don't blame you for waiting to do it. I would never have the patience or skill to make it look right if I tried to wrap it.

I was looking more into this and it seems it's just not really a thing anymore since it's not easily removable, and now that 3M has their 1080 Carbon Vinyl.
I can't tell if this stuff is real carbon though? Is it? I think no, since without any resin overtop it would just unweave over time and be a disaster.
btw, if you want another example of a wrap job here is one i just did on my "new" s2000. (This is 3M 1080 CF Vinyl)

Thanks for looking into this. I would imagine it is not real carbon fiber. The S2000 looks pretty good. However, that wrap looks eerily similar to what I had on my Evo. It looked good from a distance, but was pretty obviously fake up close. Do you notice the same thing?

I am glad you are good at vinyl wrapping. I just don't have the patience or skill for that. My problem is that I am such a damn perfectionist that if I screwed up some tiny detail I would see it every day. This is actually the whole reason I am thinking of wrapping the silver trim- I had a tiny mark and thought it was actual brushed aluminum and that I could sand it out with ultra fine sand paper- only to find it is a coating that comes off that gives it the finish. Now I have a big mark. Oops!
