22 inch wheels. To keep or not to keep.
Just picked up a '13 g37x sedan and much to my displeasure it has 22 inch wheels installed. Tire size on the front is 235/30/22.
While the car does look pretty good with these installed, I really do not want to run a 30 profile tire--just too damn skinny for me. Anyone know if I can go taller with the tires or should I swap it all out for 19 or 20 inch wheels.

Ditch em for something smaller. Go with 20's at most. Ride quality will suffer immensely with 22's if you haven't already realized.

Thanks. I'm still getting over the 'new' car jitters. It's stock height as far as i know. I'd like to run more sidewall, that's for sure. I'm using the tirerack simulation thingy to judge what size wheel i want in order to achieve that optimal wheel gap. 20's look promising ;-)

And it looks a bit too blingy for my tastes as well, I'm in my 40s for fscks sake ;-)

You honestly had to ask? Definitely NOT to keep. lol.
Drop to 19 or 20". As for wheel gap, you can only truly address that with ride height, not tire size. There are a couple of options for "x" suspension. I'm planning on doing Tein Street Basis Coilovers and 19" wheels. Mine is RWD though

Ive been researching and apparently someone paid a bunch of coin for these wheels. $2000-3000? Holy ****. We are getting used to the look and don't hate it quite as much as when we first got it. It definitely gets lots of comments, mostly due to the wheels and mosly positive. I'm going to run them at least until the tires start to wear out. Meanwhile I've been playing with some tire size calculators and going to 245/35-20 only yields an additional .6 inch of sidewall--2.775 inches for the 22s and 3.375 inches for the 20s. $2000-$2500 for all new wheels/tires is a pretty steep price to pay for .6 inch. I just don't know at this point.....

I'd recommend 20's and lowering your suspension too. I run 245/35/20 in front on 20 x 9.5" wheel. In the Back I run 285/30/20 on a 20 x 10.5" wheel. Ride quality isn't bad either, but my suspension is done right. Check out my build and other builds. Lots of guys here have sweet lowered cars that look badass and function better than stock. It's a double win.
