Anyways, I got one of these recently. Been using it for a few week and it's definetely awesome. The GPS thing basically locks out all the false alarms that you normally would see (like garage openers etc). Also, it adjusts sensitivty so when you're at highway speed it becomes really sensitive and picks up the radar quite well. So far I haven't had an encounter with a radar pointed right at me, but detected several that were traveling/tagging people in opposite directions. It also has database of red light camera, speed cameras etc which is pretty handy. I think is a great deal cus I got mine brand new for about $75 more and that was a pretty great deal since retail is $500!

I haven't owned any other high-end detector, so can't really speak to a V1 or anything else. All I know, when it goes off on the freeway, I slow it down...
In the city, it has a feature called true-lock that will lock a signal out once detected in the same place 3 times... nice feature for commonly traveled routes.
I would run it in what they call spec mode, which tells you the frequency of the signal you are detecting. For instance, speed enforcement Ka Band has been allocated 33.3 - 36.0 GHz, so anything outside this range is nothing to worry about. Put these, along with X and K bands, in your memory bank and it's clear sailing.

This is easily the best detector I've ever used. I'd take it over a V1 any day. It's quiet enough to use in highway mode while cruising around downtown, and I'm not exaggerating. It rarely falses and when it does, it's learning from that false. Great for my CA-NV trips. Just make sure your state hasn't gone full-on laser. Great deal guys, jump on this!

hmmm good to know. I was actually picked up in IL after buyin my car down in GA, but it seems that every times i've been picked up its from a cop pointing their laser gun RIGHT at me.

That sucks man. Though, it helps to know what sort of measuring equipment that specific area uses. San Diego uses laser exclusively. CHP uses Ka band radar primarily and laser is working its way in slowly. A radar detector is only as good as its operator.
