To get rolling shots of the passenger side of the subject car, the "rig" will be mounted on the drivers side of the camera car. If you walk on the sidewalk and not in between the lanes of traffic, you should be okay.
Lest there be any confusion, we are talking about American Roads (drive on the right) and Cars (Steering wheel on the left).

I did not say that they were. xlack was talking about a rig hitting pedestrians and I was just pointing out that IF a rig was used to capture the passenger side of the subject car, a rig on the camera car would not be at risk of hitting trees or pedestrians.
