Believe me it feels really smooth while shifting! The shape fits in your hand perfectly and as far as the heat goes, mine gets a little warm here in Houston but after about 30 seconds with the a/c on it goes back to perfection!
As far as installation goes, you forgot step one.....make a margarita!

Why don't you people try taking it to Infiniti and paying 40 dollars or so for them to remove it?
Esp those of you who lease you'll end up having to pay over $100.00 to replace the OEM **** when you turn the car back in or sell it, why not make a small investment to keep it.
Some Nissan / Infiniti dealerships sell aftermarket shift *****, I'm sure they are capable of installing them.
I'm sure they have a special tool or way to remove it.
That way, if it does end up destroyed they will have to replace it..............
