How illegal are blue led head lights?

I want to get the iron man mod on my black G with the blue leds. How often do they pull you over if you're in the city, if they do so at all.

lol, there aren't 'tiers' of illegality. they're plain illegal. having 'very' blue lights in there is just asking for it.

think of it as an on/off switch, not a dimmer switch lol

I'd be careful esp. because you're in CA...I've heard cops in CA are @ssholes about illegal modding...

Not having a license plate at the front of your car is illegal too but I've never been pulled over for it, I only once got a fix it ticket at the Ferry terminal in SF.

So I'm just wondering if cops are gonna be lax about it here, but it seems like no.

I think it all depends on the area. My work car has 8000K HID's, blue turn signals, 5% tint all around, and smoked out tail lights. I tend to go infront of cops and never have they stopped me because any of the above mentioned. However, if you get pulled over for speeding or taking a light, they definitely will notice that and add it to your bill.

I don't think you want to spend the money and take the chance, especially in SF. If it's a fix it ticket, then you'll be pretty much throwing away $800 bucks, what I've been told as the cost of Ironman.

If a cop sees blue lights, it'll catch his attention no doubt, then you'll be in bigger trouble if you have other mods like non-CARB legal intakes, and exhaust.....etc

How Often are Blue LEDs ticketed?

This might have gotten different responses if phrased differently.

How long have members used the blue (or red) Ironman LEDs and haven't had a ticket (so far)? How many have had a ticket with Ironman LEDs?

Too many factors to consider, NY cops seem to be more lenient than CA cops when it comes to mods.

There could be 100 people with blue LEDs and no ticket for 2 years. But all it takes is 1 for you to get hit with it.

If you really want the blue lights, why not wire them to an external switch instead of with the City/Parking lights?

he meant, wire the leds to an on off switch so you can turn them on or off when you see a cop. i got mines with a switch and good thing is mines is cool white leds so i'm pretty much legal.

Why would you wire them to a switch, instead of automatically connected to the city lights? I could see it if your color wasn't legal.
