Window Tinting Choices and Locations

So after going to my first G Meet (it was pretty legit),

I now see the light and want to tint my PG G Coupe. I'll most likely be doing 35% all the way around.

For all you running tints on your cars, what brand tint are you running? The shop I am looking at (TNT Window Tinting Alexandria Va) uses Madico, Solarguard, V-KOOL, and Huper Optik. I've always heard 3M is best, but I'm definitely open to other opinions.

I would like to hear any reviews about brands or different types (Ceramic vs Metallic) as well as any installers in the DC/MD/VA area that people have had experience with.

Thanks!

I've had 3 cars done by D&L Window Tinting (D&L Professional Window Tinting - Welcome - -) at their Whitemarsh, MD location and they've always treated me good and done a quality job. I went with 3M and never considered anything else, my old Altima had their tint job for 5 years and it looked new when I sold the car.

They aren't the cheapest place around, but their work comes out good and usually with a fairly minimal wait.

The guy I use here in OH uses Madico. He also does just about every high end and exotic car in Northeast Ohio. ..when i first met him a few years ago, I had always heard 3m was best. When i told him that he basically laughed in my face (in a polite way) and said that was a typical consumer misconception because of most knowing the brand. He said there is a reason he uses Madico on these extremely high end cars.

Go to his facebook photos North Shore Tint | Facebook

I've had Madico with no problems whatsoever. So that is my vote. .and due to his experience, a negative vote on 3m. I believe solargard & llumar are also better compared to 3m.

IMO it's all the same, I just go to my local shop that I've been going to for years pay 35 per 2 windows. Plus lifetime warranty!

Thanks for the opinions. I'm still waiting to hear back from the shop I emailed. I haven't seen any negative reviews for him, which is why I am leaning towards him. Plus he's a lot closer than White Marsh.

i used solargard looks fine..honestly i dont think you will be able to notice a difference between all the major brands such as 3m, lumar, solargard etc. just dont cop out and go with something cheap bc your gonna end up doing it over again real soon.

Go for ceramic. Metallic can screw with some stuff. Like the effectiveness (range) of the keyless entry.

Sorry for the hijack...
I've only ever had cars with tinted glass and not tint applied (why the hell Infiniti doesn't do this is beyond me. One of my only gripes about this brand).

My back window has a strange effect with regards to the headlights showing through. It's like they are visually broken into pieces, vertically, because of the tint and the defrost wires in the glass. Is this normal?
