Northeast Holiday/Charity Meet
NORTHEAST HOLIDAY/CHARITY MEET
*I know the Northeast/New England/Massachusetts section of this forum does not get much action, but I am going to post here anyway with the hopes of some positive response.*
Hello...
I realize it is early to start thinking about the holidays, but I just want to throw out a "feeler" to see if any of the G owners from the Northeast (and anywhere else) might be interested in a charity-themed meet. I did this a few years ago with some local Z guys and it was a success. It was very last-minute and not incredibly well-organized, but still a good time. Hence, the reason I want to start planning for it now. That said, member TomieG and I thought it might be nice to put together something of this nature this year.
Anyway, I'd like to get a group together around the holiday season (no firm date set at this time). It's a great excuse to get enthusiasts together one last time before the holidays and the snow for a few drinks, some food, conversation, and pictures of our cars... But it's also a great opportunity to exercise some benevolence, goodwill, and generosity. For this, there is no better time of year than right around Christmas.
Depending on the number of members who would be interested, what I would do is contact the restaurant and have them set aside seating for the appropriate number of guests, but also see if they could set aside a certain section of the parking lot for our rides. Again, this all depends on the number in attendance.
Other than that, what I would ask of the people in attendance would be to bring a contribution. A couple of us will gladly accept your donations and see to it that they reach the proper charity. Every Christmas my office is active in this sort of thing, so I would be happy to handle this. Only one is necessary, but my three suggestions for a donation/contribution are:
1) Any canned goods you can spare for a food drive.
2) A new (small) gift for a Toys for Tots/underprivileged family drive.
3) A monetary donation that will go to the Salvation Army.
*Any contribution is greatly appreciated. One can of Spaghettio's or a donation of $5 WILL make a difference.*
At this juncture, the purpose of this thread is to get a rough idea of people who may be interested in attending. Of course, this time of the year is busy with family, shopping, traveling, etc... I realize it is hard to predict where you will be or if you will have plans 2+ months from now, but we're simply looking for some feedback/suggestions, as well as numbers. We do not expect you to commit 100% at this time.
My suggestion for a date would be a Saturday not too close to Christmas.

Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?
We're really hoping for a good turn-out here. Anyone and everyone is welcome. For the G owners/enthusiasts who aren't as close, we hope that some consider making a little trip for this meet. This will be a great way to welcome in the holiday season and, for many, a "last hurrah" for their G until Spring 2011.
Thank you.

I will start a tentative list here. Please add your name to it if you think you'd like to attend... Again, it is still very early so you are not expected to be able to make a full commitment at this point...
