Professional Catback Exhuast vs Pieced Together
Hey, I’m new to the forums but wanted to get some advice from more experienced people.
My car is a 2011 G37x Coupe
At the moment I only have axle back and some astetic mods (wrapped spoiler, aftermarket/painted grille, wheels) but wanted to get a full catback system and test pipes.
My question is, would it be worth spending more money on a professional catback exhaust or should I get the pieces (Y-Pipe & Mid-Pipe) then use my axle back to complete the setup? It seems like it will be harder to piece it together but also cheaper.
( The catbcak exhausts i was looking at were Motordyne or FI cause I want it loud)
Followup Question - Does anyone know if there are any systems that use an h pipe like the one in the video? (Most seem to fit normal g37 but not x)

(PM if link doesn’t work)
Thanks in advance

A full catback will probably look better and fit better than cobbling a system together.
As for test pipes, assuming 816 is your area code... https://www.emissions.org/loc/missou...sions-testing/

The issue is that most bolt on exhaust are made of thin stainless and this alone introduces some raspiness where as a muffler shop bent pipe will be thicker helping the tone quite a bit.
A pieced together exhaust doesnt have to be that difficult. If you're planning on running Cats, a common aftermarket Y pipe wont hurt sound and are easy to find used. This will merge both banks into one which will be the mid pipe
My suggestion is going with as big of a muffler/resonator possible and move the divider farther back to split into your exhaust.
If you're planning on getting rid of the cat's you'll need a few more resonators to deal with the added rasp this introduces.

As for cats, what they don’t know cant hurt them. I got some inspector buddies too so I should be good.
