G37 Convertible Resonated Test Pipes vs High Flow Cats
Hello everyone, I'm fresh to this forum and I'm soon to get me a G37 Convertible. I already compiled a mod list so I can squeeze out a few more HP out of the engine and I'm mixed on the Test Pipe vs. HFC situation.
So I hate obnoxiously loud cars + It wouldn't be pleasant to run a super loud exhaust on a Convertible anyway so I selected some Berk resonated pipes + a MagnaFlow catback exhaust (rated Moderate on CARID volume scale). I've never gotten rid of cats before and I heard that the car might smell under acceleration, and I haven't seen any threads on Google about Convertible mods. I also want to get a tune, but I'd be willing to sacrifice some power if HFC are better or if the Berk pipes are very loud/raspy or smelly. Any experience/opinions on what the perfect setup would be for a Convertible?

I have a Z32 TT Convertible with test pipes and it is VERY loud. Being that the G37 is naturally aspirated, it would be even louder. I would avoid that at all costs. From a smell perspective, while driving the only ones who will smell it will be the folks behind you. If you are around the car while it is idling you will not necessarily smell it then but your clothes may smell like it later once you are away from the car. I think what you selected is the right way to go for your situation.
