2009 G37 Sedan Performance Parts

I LOVE my G, and although I'd like to say that I know all about how to increase its performance without dropping a stupid amount of money, I don't.

With that being said, what parts would you guys recommend performance wise? I'm not looking to turn in into a race car, but at least a formidable/respectable street car. (then maybe my friends would stop calling it a mom car lol)

Any suggestions for reasonably priced parts that bump up performance? Tires, (of which I still have no clue about any terminology lmao) intakes, exhausts etc.

NOTE: Im a student so im broke AF so I would have to save for a while. Parts that can be financed would be awesome. Thanks!

Get better tires and more aggressive brake pads when its time to change them.

learn to drive better. Its free. I'm not trying to be harsh or sarcastic, these cars have a ton of power and can tear it up on the track stock and almost every mod you can make on this car can be out driven by a better driver in a stock car, the only limitations being tires and maaaaaaybe more aggressive brake pads.

this car is pretty sorted from the factory mods on this car don't go very far performance wise unless you go FI and spend tons of $$$...

financing parts is really really bad, don't do it unless its a safety/necessity thing

Not sure how an aggressive looking car with a 370z motor earns the 'mom' car badge...First thing my father in law, a lifetime biker and muscle car enthusiast, said when he got done driving it was "Wow, that thing is bad a$$". Then again, giving your car knock knees or 'stance' is the thing to do today.

Don't finance parts...that's asinine. Save up and buy them or buy from someone here when they sell their parts.

Tire rack is a good source for prices on tires if you're looking to upgrade them.

Assuming you have a AWD model, grab a sport coupe's RSB to improve handling.

Resonated test pipes will give you the most power. K&N drop ins are also a good choice to pair with the stock intakes.

Muffler delete if you want it to sound aggressive for about $100 bucks.

I'll go Hashim one better and say NEVER finance car parts unless it's the only way to get the car on the road.

When you can afford them, get tires. The higher the performance category, the better. Though temper that with the knowledge that as a broke-*** college student you have to consider tire life.

For the price of two tires, you can get sway bars. They don't wear out and really improve the handling dynamics. They will make any tires you buy work better.

Stop there until you get a job. Anything you buy for your car is an expense, not an asset. Only buy when you have cash. Tuition, housing, utilities, food, clothing, books, fuel, and insurance have higher priorities than go-faster parts.

Sway Bars

And save your money for cheap beer and girls. Plenty of time and disposable income later in life to mess with modding cars.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I would LOVE to take my car to some kind of track to hone and improve my 'driving skill', but unfortunately there really aren't any that wouldn't be an absurd amount of time to get there, so I guess I'll stick to traffic-less back roads. My friends (the same ones who concluded I have a "mom car") have recommended sway bars and better brakes to me and that is what I'm saving up for currently, but in terms of wheels + tires or just tires I know that is gonna be a while down the road. Every car is gonna have haters, but me and friends mess with each other all the time so I doubt they truly believe what they're saying. Besides I could kick any of their asses in a race other than my buddies 2014 is350 f-sport so at least I'll always know that. Anyway, I now know to avoid financing parts, but I'm gonna guess that buying used parts from Craigslist, this forum, or other owners is the better route? (Assuming that the part/item has been inspected and works properly) and if it's not too much to ask, is there any specific sway bar you guys would recommend? What about tires/wheels? I'm new to all the tire terminology like I said, so usually when I ask people they will just give me seemingly random numbers that have no correspondence to anything in my brain lol so if you guys could provide links it would make it simpler for my noob brain.. Thanks for help, I really do appreciate it!

(Sorry if this jumps around a lot, I'm just trying to learn as much as I can)

Look in the suspension forum. I can think of four brands of bars. Realize also you have a four-door Z. Any 370Z suspension part will fit. Look at my370z.com for more used parts.

19” coupe wheels are the best bang for the buck, and opens you up to 245/40 front 275/35 rear tires.

Used parts in the classifieds here and over on the 370 board would be the best place for a deal.

Non sport brakes are actually very good for the G. Just grab stop tech rotors and upgraded pads and you're set; they'll pull the filings out of your teeth you hit them hard enough.

Sway bar from a Z or Sport model G37 is going to be the best bang for your buck @ about $100 give or take. Be sure to upgrade your bushings though. Firehawk Indys and Hankooks V2s are great performance tires that won't cost the premium the PSS demand.

I was planning on doing a muffler delete, but my fear is that it will turn out sounding nasty like some of the muffler delete videos I've heard on YT. I'm assuming there's a right and wrong way to do it, so what should I do once the two mufflers near the exaust tips are cut off? What kind of piping should I get to replace the mufflers? Should I get new exaust tips as well?

I'd use the old exhaust tips and just get a quote for 2.25 or 2.5 inch piping. Then, upgrade the mid pipe when you have a bit more cash and just work your way up to the Y-pipe if you so desire. Stock Y-pipe is already 2.5'' piping though so your basically just throwing cash away at that point. Either delete the mufflers or the resonators but for the love of God do not do both.
