New to Infiniti (2014 Q60)

First post.

I'm not a newbe to online forums, just a newbe here. Looking forward to learning more about my new to me 2014 Q60 AWD.

And, yes, I know that ..... I'll post some up shortly.

Thanks kennyz424 & blnewt! It's a 2014 with less that 22k miles on it.

I've got the OEM Splash Guards ordered and should hopefully have them installed before the end of the year. I'm not looking to do too may mods to my Gray Ghost. Mainly sway bars and other assorted things to stiffen up the frame/body. Somewhere down the road I may even put coil overs on her, but I'm not as young (early 50's now) as I once was, so lowering will just make it a little more difficult for me to get in and out of it. But all of that could change if I had the proper equipped assistant ( ) to help me!

Just a little update and a question.

I have installed a set of Hotchik Sway Bars and I'm enjoying how they have flattened the Q60x in the corners!

Now for a question..... next mod..... STILLEN G3 CAI or FI-RHFC? I can't do both at the moment, so.... which one should I do first and why?

I'm thinking that the FI-RHFC should be done first, but I've been wrong before.

I'd agree with you, the F1-RHFC FTW!
And if you DIY be sure to use the 50/50 Acetone ATF mix to soak the bolts 24hrs prior, best rust breaker there is!

What's your car history, Pope?

You've been researching cats, sways, catbacks and tunes... so you're going to be modding this car. It's just going to happen, right? I think you should start a progress thread, or move and rename this one.

Since turning 50 a few years back, I've noticed that I've written more self-deprecating old man comments than I normally would. I see you've fallen into that same pattern. Kind of strange, isn't it?

There's no right or wrong approach. If you're budgeting your mods because of finances or the calendar or both, then there are a number of good arguments for doing cat's first.

For one, it's usually half the cost in parts (although probably double the cost in labor). Either way, it's the more inexpensive mod, and usually by a lot.

Another is that the noise increase on FI's resonated high flow cats is very minimal when matched to the OEM catback. A little bit deeper, a little bit louder, but that's it. (Other cats are louder.) In otherwords, it's a baby step with regard to living with a loud car.

Another is that the cats are the more difficult mod, so good to get that out of the way first.

Another very arguable point is that the cats are the better power mod. But I really don't want to argue that opinion. Seriously, don't.

Another is a Fast Intentions consideration, in that cats can take up to 8 weeks to deliver, whereas the FI catback can take up to 14 weeks.

Last, it's what I did. That and 10 cents gets you nothing.

History..... well..... with me also being in my early 50's I've got a wide variety of it. I do 90% of my vehicle maintenance, which would include pulling and doing a total engine disassembly / rebuild. I have a very good grasp of "Air Bleeds" & "Jets" that are used in carburetors. I understand were weight can be added to a vehicle to make it faster. I also know that just bolting on high end parts will not have as good of results as bolting on parts that work the best together.

Yes, I'm going to mod my Q. I'm more of a Function over Forum kind of guy. Yes, I'll throw in a few cosmetic item on here and there, but I'd rather have more of a "Sleeper". You know, to be the Old Guy that the young guys say, don't mess with him unless you want your feelings hurt, because his ride isn't flashy, it's just FAST! ;-)

As for a progression thread, not really my style. There are things that I don't care for everyone to know about. Now I'll do a D.I.Y. on something if I don't see one already posted as a way to give back to the forum.

Yes, I totally understand the self-deprecating old man comments. I see it as we've earned the rights, so own them and keep moving forward. :-)

Guessing you meant 'function over form'? Otherwise, that's a new one, and doesn't make much sense. :P
And you better be planning on FI'ing it to be 'fast'. Otherwise you'll just be that 'old guy who tried but never made it.'
