New G37x Coupe Owner

Hey all! Been lurking the forum for almost the past year, doing way too much research into cars, and the G37 in particular. I had decided that the G37x would be my top pick for a few reasons:

1. I wanted a V6 (Mountain/canyon Driving)
2. Preferably AWD (Mountain/canyon Driving...in the winter)
3. Preferably a Coupe (Single & no kids = screw practicality vs style)

Even with just those three, that narrows it down to very few choices! Plus, the G/Infiniti had many other factors going for it. So, I had decided the G37x would be my top pick, but it was always going to be a matter of affordability. I'm early on in my career, and only in my late 20's. I had almost given up on the G37, just as a matter of being realistic with my budget and what these cars cost. But then it happened.

The Dream.

Late Thursday I noticed a listing from a dealership that I was certain had to be an error, especially after watching these cars for so long. It was listed as a 2009 Journey coupe with 101k miles...but the description included that it was AWD and the pictures clearly showed that it was a G37x. I contacted the dealer and confirmed via their stock number that they still had the car as listed. Unfortunately I could not make it down to them Friday, but hoped it would still be available Saturday morning. Making the 2 hour drive, I half expected to see a different car than what was shown online in the pictures.

But there it was, just as pictured online, with a price tag on the window that matched. I did a quick test drive and proceeded with the sale. I came to find out as I was filling out paperwork from the salesperson and finance person (who seemed more upset) that the listed price was indeed an error. They thought the car was at 180k miles. Nope. 101k and a CarFax with extensive service records to back it up.

So I got the car at $10.6k before taxes/fees. Well under KBB value. Dropped $6k on it and financed the remainder at 6% APR.

Sorry for the long story, but hope some of you enjoyed! Below are pics! Probably won't be doing much if any modding, as I do gotta stick to the budget!

If any of you have any tips or suggestions for things to watch out for on a higher mileage G, it would certainly be appreciated!

edit: Because I'm sure someone will ask; I traded in a 94 Honda Civic which I've had since high school that had 223k on it. Yep. Been saving for awhile.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the insane deal you got on your G! I guess patience definitely paid off in the end with your search.

As for issues you may want to be aware of with high mileage is a timing gasket issues that pre 2012 models suffer from. Given its pretty rare to happen, but if it does, it's roughly a $2k fix. Infiniti finally changed that issue starting with the 2012 models.

Other than that I'd suggest doing a full fluid flush and change them all out and only use synthetic oil and premium gas. Also I'd clean out the throttle bodies for sure as well.

Other then that off the top of my head you should be fine. Beautiful X model you scored. Enjoy the car.
