Paint imperfections around rear emblems

Finally purchased a 2012 g37 this weekend! I have been searching for about 2 months and I found this one at a local dealer and we worked a deal with my trade in. Its the slate blue color and although it wasnt exactly the color I wanted, after a long time searching and this being a great deal I had to jump on it. Only issue was what I noticed tonight on my rear emblems. It appears as if the adhesive is seeping out or maybe corrosion? It is especially bad around the "g37" and up close looks like the paint may be bubling. I tried searching the forums but really didnt know how to word it. I was thinking about just de-badgeing the car but I am scared that if I take them off the paint may have damage that cannot be repaired. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It looks like they either detailed the car and didn't remove the residue, or the emblems were missing and someone did a sad job trying to re-adhere them.

Might try to use a bug/tar removing spray and just try a small area around one of those letters and see if it comes off, if so then you can either clean it up the best you can or go for a de-badge. I removed all but the Infiniti logo on my tail and prefer the look and also much easier to detail w/out all those little letters.

That may be what the previous owner did because the infinit logo has no issue just the g37 and the words infiniti. I did try using the bug and tar remover before i posted this but had difficulty just because it was hard to get in between the letters. I probably will just debadge and see if something like goofoff would clean it off. My biggest concern was just with what appeared as the paint bubling around the g37. Thanks for the help

Don't use goof-off it's a bit too harsh for the clear coat, try goo-gone, much safer and you should still get good results.

This bottle is EXACTLY what you need and is safe for your paint. I have it and it's almost full. It's practically new, I only used it to take off my emblems and it worked perfectly. Shoot me a text message if you'd like and I'll ship it to you for free since I don't need it anymore. Shoot me a text 9736538926.

Also welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new G!

Was probably debadged and they rebadged it to sell. I'd just debadge it again and hope they didn't do something stupid like use epoxy.

If they did use epoxy would it be able to come off? I am starting to think it is epoxy just based on how it is seeping from the edges, like they applied too much.

It's not going to be fun or easy.

Have you talked to the dealer that sold you the car? If they are reputable they should take care of that.
