Sedan or coupe?
Ok so, I am going to make my purchase relatively soon I am considering options and I am trying to decide if I want to go with the sedan or coupe. I like the sporty look of the coupe, but the sedan is more functional with no loss of performance???... Actually from what I read the sedan had an edge up on the coup in 1/4 mile times 2009 Infiniti G37x 0-60: 5.1Quarter Mile: 13.5 2010 Infiniti G37 Sport Coupe 0-60: 5.2Quarter Mile: 13.7. So any reasons not to go with the sedan over the coupe? The G35 coupe beat down the sedan with ease a but it does not appear that is the case anymore. Any feedback would nice thank you.

Welcome to the site.
If you plan on toting passengers on a semi regular basis then the Sedan FTW. Performance is a toss-up, insurance costs may be a bit higher for coupes, not sure. More exterior mods available for the coupes and initial cost for a coupe should be a bit more.
If it's just you & a passenger 90% or more, then I'd lean toward the coupe. I'm on my second G Sedan and am still very happy w/ the car FWIW.

I got a coupe and love it. Very nice looking and sleek. The car I bought is de-badged and I've had so many people come up to me and ask. "What kind of car is that?!" To me, the sedan just looks like a normal 4 door car. The coupe is sporty and unique. Looks better than a 370 with more options. I would recommend getting a car that is near stock with low miles. Pay a bit more to get what you want so you won't be disappointed down the road. The wheels, mods, etc, can all be done by YOU. With that being said, if the person did something THE RIGHT WAY and it's something you actually want, by all means save yourself the money and pick it up. My car came with a set of awesome 20" Vossen wheels that are perfect for the car. Multiple compliments on them. As stated above, if you want the room, go for the Sedan. You can fit (theoretically) 4 people in each car, so if you only have that many passengers a limited amount of time, that's something to consider. If you're really concerned about speed, you may want to consider forced induction or other car options. In the short time I've had my coupe I've found you can really only extract a limited amount of power without going TT or S/C. My theory, splurge on the vehicle you want, build it how you want, pay the extra money to do it right so you won't be chasing the next best thing 6 months down the road when you get bored. As far as insurance, I'm 22 and pay about $70/month for full coverage on a $20k vehicle. Cheaper than my scion Tc by a long shot. I wouldn't worry about insurance much unless you have a DUI or multiple accidents/tickets. Also, look around. Do some research and look in states around you. You could potentially save up to $5k if you get a good deal. Plane ticket/long drive to buy the perfect vehicle seems like an ok sacrifice to me! Good luck!

I don't think this is a question anyone but you can answer. They're the same car, essentially; which one works for you? The coupe looks nice, but I can't stand having a two-door car as my DD, so I have a sedan. I only use the back seats occasionally, but I love having the doors when I do. If that's not an issue for you, maybe the coupe is the way to go. As blnewt said, it is a little easier to find aftermarket bits for the coupe. Looks are a personal thing - I agree that the coupe is more sporty looking, but I also think that the sedan, tastefully modded, looks really nice. If you really don't care one way or the other, find the best deal you can and take it. Keep in mind that X models affect availability of certain parts (suspension/exhaust come to mind).

Welcome...and as others have said, that's a question for you to answer. The performance is close enough to not really matter. These cars aren't Evo's or STi's. The aftermarket is not like either of those vehicles, and the mods don't add the same kind of power that is out there for the aforementioned duo. I bring those up because those are usually what people cross-shop if they're looking for 4 doors. In other words, if you're going for looks, then get what you like best between the coupe/sedan. If you're going for power...unless you're going FI...the G is not really the car for you anyway.
FWIW...I have a G sedan...and when I look at it compared to the coupe...I have no complaints and no buyer's remorse. I think the bigger decision is whether you're going RWD/AWD or 7AT/6MT. Cheerios and milk and all that.

Thanks for the input I really appreciate it. The coupe version of the g35 was superior in many ways other than AWD which is one of the most important factors to me. Living is Ohio half the year I have to contend with snow so AWD is a must. But the g37x I can go either way. I found a 2011 sedan with only 27000 miles for a sweet deal up near cleveland. I am thinking I'll hop on that. As far as aftermarket with most of the 370z parts being optional for the gs I know there is more than enough of an aftermarket for my needs. Thanks all I really appreciate it!

I just traded in a 2012 G37xS sedan for a 2013 G37x coupe. I think the cars are similar in how they drive and handle. I got the coupe for the way it looks. It looks great and really can get up and go down the highway. That being said, the coupe is actually 2 person car. I am only 5'4'' and I sat in the back seat today. If the person front pushes the front seat back, there is no room for your feet on the floor. My head was scraping along the rear window.
I have second thoughts on the trade and miss the utility the sedan.....But the coupe sure looks great. The choice is the buyers.

I looked for a XS Coupe but had 0 luck finding one even with the price and mileage filter at max no awd sport coupe they must be pretty rare. plenty of g37x sedans the g37xs and g37x are virtually the same price. I keep finding some "Good" prices g's out of NY some place in Brooklyn but I discovered they are all salvage cars most with flood damage?!? cars were going for $8,500 but for a flood damaged car.. yeah not for me.

If you ever plan on having kids get the sedan...
I was without a G for 2 years since I started with the coupe 6MT and needed to trade it in when we had a kid.
Now I have a sedan 6MT

I have a 35 sedan and a 37 coupe both 6 speed and after owning both I still appreciate the sedan more. Four door sports car eating up coupes like its nothing is always fun. But if you get a sedan please be patient and find a clean 6mt!
