Floss
When I bought my G, the previous owner said he used dental floss and soap/water to get it off. See saw the floss back and forth over the top working way down to create a barrier between the letters and the car. I think for the glue residue, try goo gone. I don't know the drtails, just what he told me. Probably an easy youtube find, but that's the gist of it.

20#monofiliment fishing line and hair dryer....after the emblems are removed one at a time...use hair dryer to heat the glue and a soft cloth to rub and remove the glue....work on one spot at a time....I have debaged 4 cars with this method...its easier with 2 people working together...one with fishing line and the other operating the hair dryer
