Former BMW Owner looking to get a G37x

Hello everyone, totally new here.

Sadly, recently I had to sell my '02 BMW 330ci that I'd had for 7 years. I bought my fiancee an '05 Audi Allroad a couple of years back so she's driving that, which means......I've been borrowing my brother's '05 Chrysler Pacifica since December. It's as depressing as it sounds.

I live in Denver and commute to Boulder for work, so I need something for the snow (4-wheel drive) and reliable but still fun to drive and a nice interior (I'm picky about interiors). I have a Consumer Reports subscription and it placed a "Good Bet" on the G37x (no "Good Bets" on any of the BMW or Audi models, shocking right?)

So today I went to the EchoPark place around here and test drove a 2011 G37x in silver with black interior and brushed steel trim. Wow.....drove very, very nice; sharp steering, great throttle response, etc. It's got about 28K miles and they're asking a little under $26K for it. I've made an appointment Tuesday to take it to an independent garage for a pre-purchase inspection. I've got $20k to put down on it. I can't wait to get out of my brother's high-mileage Pacifica...am I on the right track does it seem?

Here's the link for the actual car I'm looking at: Clicky

On the other hand, for just about $1,000 more a dealership has this one, same exterior/interior combo I like: Other Clicky

Welcome to the site, glad you found us!
Just on the surface I'd go w/ the 2013, having another 2 years of factory warranty is worth the $1k not to mention higher future resale value. Assuming they're both comprable in overall condition that's what I'd do. I'd then drive over to Pepsi Center and see if the Avalanche can win enough games to get into the playoffs

Thanks, I'd glad too! The 2013 does seem like more bang for the buck; I'm just concerned with financing. I have $20K to put down, but wondering if a dealership would bother financing the extra $7k or not, didn't know if the difference would be too small for them to finance. I heard of a Subaru dealership doing that one time to one of my co-workers.

Oh, Denver sports teams.....either really good or not-so-great.

I'd go newer as well. Plus it's your preferred color combination.

+1 for the newer, navigation equipped G37X. Any / all dealerships will gladly finance $7K, I'd look to a credit union first though.

Used car rates are still very low - good credit can get you 2.49%, so look at your own finances to see if your money can better work for you by maybe putting down only $10K and financing $17K. The remaining $10K you have can be invested rather than spent.

If you like the steering and handling on G37x, check out g37xS model. Sports package gives you a lot of features for not a lot of money although AWD version is missing some of the best features that can be had on a RWD S package car.

Your post is completely off topic of the OP's question and full of inaccurate information.

The brakes would be same, sport model or not, because the AWD sedan was not equipped with the BBK. The steering would also be the same, because that was not fitted to the AWD sedan either. There would not be an LSD, because that was not fitted to the AWD sedan either. There would not be a "better" suspension either, because that was also not added to the AWD sedan sport model. He would get seats that some love, and others hate, a different bumper that most people prefer, 18" wheels, and paddle shifters that do the same thing that the center console shifter does.

Yeah I forgot that awd version doesn't get full blown sports package. It's more of an appearance package. But the seats alone are worth it.

I love the sport seats as well, but I have seen people pay more for the sport package, and then dislike the seats so much, they buy the non sport seats and replace them. It's definitely more of a preference opposed to one seat being better than the other.

I traded in my 08 STI and they gave me 20.5k for it so I only had to finance 10.8k so I don't think dealer would have any problems financing the difference. I only had to pay 2.1% financing on the remaining balance as well. Payments are $208 for 5 years. Plan on paying it off in 2 though.

Thanks everyone....yeah it needs to be the AWD model. Truth be told I haven't seen any G37xS models on lots around here, but in any case I'm going to make a trip back to EchoPark, see how low they'll go down in price for their '11 model, and if they won't budge that much I might as well spend the extra money for the '13.

It'll be so nice having a car that's not 10+years old with over 100K miles on it. I'm ready to go back to Japanese reliability, too (had an Acura 2.5 TL in high school that had 125K on the odometer when I got it, ran smooth as ever for years with very little maintenance). Keeping up two older German cars for a few years now has really worn on me.

Lol I agree, there are a lot of 10 year old cars that I wouldn't mind owning, even with 100k miles.

I've got a 94 BMW 530i that drives smooth as butta! Can't beat the M60 V8 (even though it's the smaller of the two V8s they made ) but yeah, not all 10+ yr old cars are bad. GL with your purchase!
