Holy crap, this site is awesome. I just bought myself a nice black '13 G37x sedan over the weekend. Waiting on the dealer to call so I can go pick her up. I'm a mid-20's coming over from my 2010 Mazda3, the first real car I owned - The second I hit the gas on my test drive I had already written a blank check to the dealer.

I didn't get nav, only got some elements of the premium package (sunroof, bose, rear parking sensors) as those are more important to me than Nav. Wish I could've got BT Audio too, but I have an iPhone so just plugging in USB will be good enough for me. Already bought the LED package from Diode and plan on tinting the windows and throwing some black vinyl on the bottom bar of the window trim, not sure yet if I want to go all the way around.

I've been pretty immersed in this board the last few days and the build threads are inspiring as all hell. Quick question in the way of Mods... First significant mod I was looking at is CAI.. Will this in and of itself see any significant benefits, or should I wait until I can do the whole system and get a tune (taxes are coming)? Also, anyone in the Boston/Providence area have any mechanic recommendations? I've found some positive Yelp reviews but would trust an anonymous board poster's opinion more.

Nice intro, welcome to the site, glad you're excited about your new arrival

As far as a CAI being your first mod, it will dress up the engine bay and will come to life at open throttle over 3k rpm. If it were me I'd probably go w/ an exhaust first, you'll notice the deeper tone and improved volume at all rpms and the new tips will be out for all to see, not just under the hood. But if you have a plan to get the whole setup eventually it doesn't really matter the order in which it comes together.

Enjoy that G when it's in your hands, and the site as well

Welcome to the site man! Super cool to see more young people. This site is full of really old guys. JUST KIDDING!!! Lol

Nah, but this forum really is awesome. I'm actually just about to start modding myself. Just ordered my exhaust this past weekend! Woot! Wish you the best with modding and the car, these things are tons of fun and I think you'll enjoy it over your Mazda3. I'm coming from a Mazda CX-7 and a Mazda6 before that.

Thanks for the kind words everyone and thanks for the tip (on the tips) Newt. Looks like I'm picking my baby up tomorrow afternoon. Not sure I'll have the repertoire to make a build thread, but I'll definitely throw some pics up for my garage and in the threads for my mods so others can see!

Picked her up today... After tint and vinyl I think my first big mod is going to be getting some new wheels. I plan to use the stock rims for winter since I'm not a huge fan. There are pages and pages on wheels that I've combed through, but I haven't been able to find the answer to my main question:

Can I go from 17/7.5 to 18/7.5 without changing anything else? I think my stocks are at 17/7.5 with a 45 offset, will 18/7.5 with a close enough offset fit alright or will I need any other mods? Sorry if this question is incredibly newbie, I am in the Newb corner after all!
