new vs used RE: engine swap

question here: if you are planning to swap out your car's engine, is it better to get a used g37 instead?? since you're going to replace the engine anyway? im a noob, so play nice out there

OK, I'll bite. Why would you swap out the engine of a brand new car?

this is a hypothetical thread regarding swapping the VQ for another engine, if someone is gonna swap engines i think it would be better to get a used car since it will be cheaper...no?

No, I think you should buy a brand spanking new car and then swap the engine. It'll be newer and more reliable than a used car.

I'll try to get a brand new one, but I may be pushed to get a used one if I can't find any new ones by the time I'm ready to purchase

That would be a financial undertaking to say the least. Buy new and use the extra monies (if there is any) to put some HP adders on, IE: Carsmo *****, DD LEDs, or 4DSC stickers.

i'd rather buy a new g37 like BB was saying, idk i'll try to squeeze one in before they get all sold out. if not a used mt wont hurt. if or when i TT my car, i dont want my setup to be limited by the VQ, rocha went thru hell to keep the vq stable for a couple of r33 nismo turboes. why not just use an engine from the v class that already has the bugs worked out. then u can have any boost u want, any turbo u want.

GFN hit the nail right on the head

Definitely start with a brand new Q60 to make use of the newer badging too. G37's are old news.

You've got it all wrong, start with a GTR, then swap the body for a G37. Way easier, so you can get the motor, transmission, and all the harnesses and stuff. Honestly, Sam, I expected you to know this given your work the the RB swap.
