New England Newbie with 3 Newbie Questions
Hello everyone,
I just picked up a 2011 silver X sedan and can't wipe the smile off my face. I never buy new, and getting this kind of thrill for less than I expected to spend has been a huge bonus. I traded a Subaru Legacy GT. It was good to me, but this is an entirely different car.
I know I'll be haunting this forum, it's addictive as hell. That said, I have 3 quick questions:
Does this site run slowly for anyone but myself? I mean, painfully slow.
Because the site has been slow, even running searches can be torture. So don't beat me up for asking - I know the answers to the next 2 questions are in the archives. It will just take me an hour to find them.
1. I ordered a replacement manual but it's not here yet. What octane does Nissan recommend? 91, or higher?
2. Are there many long-term synthetic oil users here? I'm wondering what the general consensus is re: synthetic vs. dino. With my turbocharged Subaru the benefits of synthetic were great enough to make it a no-brainer. Would love to hear opinions.
This car kicks ***. Thanks in advance for helping me to get the most out of it.

first, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase.
1. 91 or higher is correct. you can put less than 91 in, but the performance really suffers. NOTHING but 93 goes in my G...cuz i lovez her.
2. i have used nothing but full synthetic since i have purchased my G 2 years ago. penzoil ultra with K&N filter every 3500-4000 miles ish. i change it a little early, but again.....i lovez her and i don't mind wasting a little oil life if it keeps her healthy.
and the site is probably slow because they were doing a little maintainance.
again, welcome!
p.s there is a wealth of knowledge on this site...all ya gotta do is do a little search.
cheers!
