New Guy saying hi to the group
Hello everyone - glad to be here.
I am Troy, I own a Athens Blue 2009 G37S.
Love the car and maybe making some modifications over the next few years.
I just wish the steering did not feel like a sedan (thats is the only negative thing so not so bad).
There is however some customizing I would like.
Some of the current wants are:
1. About 100 more HP.
2. Better sounding exhaust.
3. Updated front lip (2009 model is a bit plain)
4. move from 19 to 20 inch rims (similar style but updated to 19inch stock). I would like 22s but that does not sound like a good idea.
5. Maybe lower it 1/2 to 1 inch to fill in the wheel area better
6. Two tone front grill (center grey crome and top and bottom keep silver chrome).
7. Minor interior mods. Add some red in the stitches of the steering wheel, seats, floor matts
8. Red start button.
9. Other things I have not thought of.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Troy. Congrats on the ride, that is a beautiful and not very common color. For your list of mods you need to do a ton of searching and reading. This forum has been here for years and every issue you listed had been addressed over and over in much detail. Browsing and searching are your friends. Best of luck in your endeavors.

Welcome to the forums, Troy. Congratulations on the AB -- such a great color. If I had to do it over again, I'd go with that over Black this time around. As for your list of mods, here's some suggestions:
1. About 100 more HP. -- About the only way I can think of to achieve an additional 100 HP would be to go FI. Even with every possible performance-oriented bolt-on, I still don't think you'll see anywhere near 100hp. FI kits usually start around $5k from what I've seen. GTM makes some pretty solid options (both turbo and super). Stillen also makes a super-kit, but some folks have had issues with Stillen. I'll leave it to you to find out the rest.
2. Better sounding exhaust. -- So many options to choose from here. Head over to youtube, look up sound-clips, and see what you like.
3. Updated front lip (2009 model is a bit plain) -- again, quite a few options to choose from. And of course, there's always the authentic vs replica debate.
4. move from 19 to 20 inch rims (similar style but updated to 19inch stock). I would like 22s but that does not sound like a good idea. -- 22"s are going to be a _very_ tight fit. In my opinion, they look too big for the car, but hey, it's your ride. If that's what you like, then go for it.
5. Maybe lower it 1/2 to 1 inch to fill in the wheel area better -- I'm looking to do the same thing. I chose to go with a set of BC coilovers for mine (I have an AWD, which limits the choices quite a bit). I think most will agree though, coils will offer a better ride than springs alone, just depends on how much you're looking to spend.
6. Two tone front grill (center grey crome and top and bottom keep silver chrome). -- Infiniti makes the 'midnight grill,' which is black with chrome top/bottom rails. As for going with a gray, you'd be better off painting your full-chrome grill for the desired effect.
7. Minor interior mods. Add some red in the stitches of the steering wheel, seats, floor matts -- I know there was someone here who who dyed? their stock stitching yellow. I don't remember who it was though. Point being, there's at least one other thread on the boards where someone has done this already.
8. Red start button. -- Search for 'Diesel Doug GTR Start button' and you'll find all you wanted to know about these.
Hope that helps, and again, welcome to the forums. Best of luck with the mods.

Really good information.
It seems between rims (probably go with 20) tires, front bumper, exhaust, FI and interior upgrades it could be closer to 15k.
But that is not bad.
Again thank you for the info.
