To Buy or Not to Buy?

To Buy or Not to Buy?
I'm looking to trade my 2008 Subaru WRX for a 2009 G37x coupe. I'm just looking for something different. I will be test driving it this weekend. Anything I need to be aware of with this particular model/year to help in my decision making??

Look in the TSB forum... there's a list of TSBs.
https://www.myg37.com/forums/tsb-tec...oupe-tsbs.html
They're for the 2008 model year, but a few of them are still relevant.
Beyond that, look for the normal things you would look for on a used car.
-Carfax. Does it show service history? If not, call your local Infiniti dealer with the VIN in hand and ask for some service records. Body work?
-Body work. A clean carfax doesn't mean much... Look at the reflections on the G. Is it like a colored mirror? Good. Is it dull, or the reflection looks blurry? Bad... It's been repainted and the clear coat sucks. Check for subtle color differences in panels. Also, check the bolts that hold the fenders on (in the hood) and near the door hinges. A good sign they've never been pulled off for body work is if it looks like it was painted after the bolts were put on.. If scratched up, it's a good sign the panels have been pulled off.
Mechanical wise, you're best having a mechanic look over the car. If you are indeed serious about the purchase any legitimate the dealer will have no qualms about letting you have the car for a few hours to take it to a mechanic. Hell, I've had a dealership let me keep a car for 2 days to see if I like it. Best bet is to take it to an Infiniti dealer and have them do a full inspection. Hundred bucks well spent to make sure it's a clean car. Try to agree with the dealership to pay for the inspection if it comes back bad.
Good luck on the purchase. Keep us updated. You won't be disappointed with a G37

@kennedy - thanks for the input...appreciate it. The car is a 2009 g37x coupe in silver w/ 56k miles on it. It is being sold by a reputable Infiniti dealership as a certified used car. They have it listed at 26k. It has the premium package and NAV. I will certainly check it over thoroughly. I've never bought a used car...usually lease. This is the only way I can get a nicer, slightly more upscale car without breaking the bank. I live in Michigan so I'd like to stick with AWD...weather can get nasty in a hurry here.

I used to live in North Arizona.. Snow half the year. Know what you mean about the weather.
If it's certified, I wouldn't worry too much. Just be weary, certified definitely doesn't mean it was never a rental.
You could work on the price a little, but it's only a couple thousand off from what you'd get at auction.. Certified used usually comes at a premium though. Worth it if you were planning on buying an extended warranty anyway.

By law the dealership has to disclose if it was a rental.

Another option is a 2009 G37x SEDAN (black)...really wanted a coupe though. The sedan only has 33K miles on it and is listed at $25k. I don't know...

Yeah, I realize that. I guess my reasoning was that it still has 12,500 miles on the powertrain warranty and my current car only has 10K left on it. My current car is a 2008 w/ 50K miles on it. I wanted to trade it off before the value really starts dropping.

Alright guys, drove the used G37x. I definitely like it a lot, but I couldn't get past the number of miles on it and the paint definitely had some wear and tear...rock chips. The car was NOT certified. They wanted 25K for it. I haggled a little, but ultimately, no go. SOOO...I'm getting a brand new 2013 G37x Coupe in white w/ premium package / NAV. I never had a white car so I'm going that route. I'm picking it up this week! Instead of buying, I'm leasing with very little money down...with the intention of buying. I couldn't pass up the warranty and having a new car again. So I guess I will officially be an Infiniti newbie.
