My first G37: 2011 G37 Sedan Graphite Shadow w/ pics :)

What's up everyone? New to the forum, new to g37 ownership, etc. But LOVING it so far! Purchased a 2011 G37 Journey Sedan with 10 miles on it. Graphite Shadow exterior, graphite/black leather interior.

It's killing me doing the break-in to 1200 miles. I think I'm only at 150, so lots more to go. I know some say drive it like you stole it, but I'm in no rush and will do the proper break in.

Did my first mod last night! Installed the paddle shifters kit. Did it without removing the steering wheel per the DIY, but it was a pain moving some of that trim around.

Can't wait for many good years with the G37 to come. Here are some some required pics:

Congrats! Nice shot if the G next to the 360 bridge. I just got myself a red g37s from Austin Infiniti a few weeks ago and I'm itching to really open her up (about to hit 1k miles)!

Break in? I have heard this before. Give me the breakdown for it. I have only owned one new car and that was over 12 years ago. I remember them saying you can't go over a certain speed and can't maintain the same speed as well.

I gotta drive my car back from Houston, so I guess I will use the cruise control and alternate speeds for 30 minute intervals. Not sure how they define long periods, i.e. 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, etc.

The rest of the driving won't be a problem. I can keep it under 4000 rpm and won't gun it or brake hard, until I hit 1200 miles of course. I need to knock that out so I can really start driving the car.

Manufactures are making engines with much higher tolerances today. Where cylinder clearances used to be in the thousands of an inch, now its in the ten thousands. Bores are rounder and straighter. There is know reason to baby a newer engine, it will actually hurt. You need cylinder pressure to drive the rings out onto the bore, which actually shaves the bore into a perfect fit. By babying it the rings will only rub and burnish the surface leaving a less then Ideal finish. So ... keep the revs below 4000 the first 300 miles, then drive it ... accelerate with meaning for the next 2500 miles and your all set. This is how all High Performance engines are broken in, and all engines today can be considered a high performance engine since they pull more power out then there predecessors ever did.
