Rear or AWD?

i love my awd, does limit on mods though (depending on what your looking for, havent had any problems yet besides lack of body kits and exhaust)
its as easy as:
if you wanna plow through the snow, get the awd. if your not going to drive in the snow, then dont. the awd definately helps at the AutoX!

I went through this same predicament for quite some time. Actually, one of the reason I found this forum. I live in Cleveland OH - one of the great snow belts of Lake Erie = terrible winters. After many weeks of reading and considering, I decided on the RWD.
I learned that anyone with a decent driving skill had the opinion that the RWD (Snow tires) did great in snow and was actually more predictable upon slippage than the AWD. It was also the consensus that the RWD handled BETTER with winters then the AWD with all seasons, with the exception of accelerating from a stop. Of course AWD with winters tops them all - although more then likely anyone with AWD uses that as a comfort and does not find the need for winter tires. The only downside to the above comparison was on steep hills and inclines where RWD struggles a bit in the thicker stuff.
The other major factors for me were the additional features of the RWD Sport package. Sport suspension, BBK, VLSD... (feel like I'm forgetting something).
Climate is obviously going to be your major factoring decision, but I'm assuming you wouldn't be asking unless you were in a snowy region. If you do live in snow and you are NOT wanting the sport package, I say AWD all the way. If you want the full performance features of a sport sedan and are an aggressive driver, go RWD SPORT. If you enjoy the power the car offers, may put it to the floor sometimes, but really just a more casual driver and enjoy the comfort and safety, go AWD (Sport or not).
The last small comparison is MPG. RWD gets a mile or so better per the sticker. Not sure real world.

I went AWD in Boston,, RWD would have been fine if it was just me driving it , But with the wife wanting to drive it I went AWD,, Funny she has a G37X sedan but always wants to take my car.. LOL

^^^ What these guys said i have the AWD and i love it. I would prefer RWD because i could have it on stick and the car would be much more fun to drive, but the AWD isnt that far off its still a blast to drive. It pretty much comes down to productivity vs fun. When the blizzards hit even if you have snow tires your f*cked with RWD. The AWD on the other hand plows though, that was the one deciding factor for me.

I'm an AWD in NH and I'm happy with my decision. No, I didn't want an automatic, but my wife did. I do like this auto more than any other I've driven though.
I also have winter tires on my AWD. I'm extremely pleased with it due to even better starts and stops. The car hooks up much better than it did with the all seasons.
With that said, I would love the opportunity to try a RWD with snows in a good storm some day, since I'd love to hand this sedan to my wife someday and get a RWD coupe for myself.
Good luck with your purchase!
