2008 Accord Coupe (V6 6MT) to 2011 G37 Sport 6MT
My lease is up for my 2008 Honda Accord Coupe (V6 6MT) and I am getting ready to purchase a 2011 G37 S (6MT) in OB. The Honda was a stop-gap car as my 2003 350Z was totaled by ex. Loved that car. RIP. What major differences can I expect to see? This is my first endeavor into an entry level sport luxury vehicle and I realize this question is vague, but I am looking to hear your experiences and feedback. The car seems well built and the options for the price are untouchable. The performance figures look pretty darn good too. I wanted this car back in 2008, but unfortunately I couldn't justify the expense at that time. Well times have changed and I am ready to roll! Any and all thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks!

I had a 2006 enthusiast z and comparing it to the g, its a little heavy around corners, and feels a bit sluggish off the line. Put on sway bars and STB to get the handling you were used to in the Z, that's what i did. For me i added CBE, HFC and Gen3 intakes to get the performance i was missing. As far as comfort the G wins hands down. So many cool features that the Z never had, Leather, moonroof, auto headlights, navi, bluetooth, and much more. The back seats are small but work for short trips. Comparing it the accord, you'll love the increase in power and how tight the car feels driving around town, plus no more torque steer when you mash the pedal. If you get a loaded G you'll love the technology that the g has.

Tested 2011 Accord, bought 08 G37S
I tested an Accord coupe 2011 and liked the feel/accel generally (compared to my 5th gen prelude). There were some really good deals according to truecar.com, something like 15% off the Accord v6 coupe 6MT, and it was un-used, smooth-shifting, pretty damned quick, reliable, and still slightly cheaper than an 08 G37S. After testing the 08 G37S last weekend, I just had to take it home with me, and I still can't wipe the stupid grin off my stupid face I just didn't get that feeling from the Accord... kinda subjective I understand; but really, the exhaust note, interior, exterior, handling, power were all really good reasons for me.
Experience thus far: Still getting used to the grabby clutch, the trunk seems about half as deep as my prelude, my mother's mad because I didn't buy a 4-door to drive her around in on the weekends, I've grown 3inches (in height), and I've noticed a thick, manly, blanket of hair starting to grow on my once-hairless-chest.

coming from a fully bolted on 2005 Acura TL...and having almost purchased a '10 Accord 6MT before purchasing my '10 G37S 6MT, i can attest to the "night and day" comments. the only odd ended piece that bothers me to this day is the sound of the engine at high revs. i'm a little embarrassed to say, but VTEC was FUN, and it sounded AMAZING! the exhaust note of the G is arguably a nice tone, but for some reason, the high end pitch of the VQ motor past 4k makes me feel a little uneasy. note that our VQ's tend to close up a bit closer to redline (something about a safey protocol closing up the throttle flaps). oh, and the CLUTCH was a little difficult to master, especially coming from a Honda/Acura 6MT. eek! Either way, the car's a real pleasure to drive! It definitely has more "authority" on the road than the Accord/TL .
congrats on your soon to purchase G37!!!
oh by the way, the VQ's have HEADERS! no more stupid cats directly off the exhaust manifold! yuck! although aftermarket headers on the G's don't seem to yield too much...just an fyi

Interesting....i.just traded my 2010 accord coupe in on a g as well. You really cant compare the cars as they are very different. I do feel the accord was quicker from a stop, but it had some work done.

I was literally within $200.00 in my negotiations for an 08 Accord coupe. It was a very nice car. Then my wife said "just go look at the Infiniti coupe.". So I did. Still have my coupe. A bit chapped that the exhaust sucks, but my new FI exhaust should be here next week. Several speeding tickets later, I can assure you that there is no comparison between the power in the two vehicles. The price gap was surprisingly narrow, as well, at least in early 08.
