Back Into The G Fold (after '09 Maxima)!

Aloha Everybody!

I last had an '07 G35S 5AT Sedan in Hawaii about 3.5 years ago, but had to sell it and relocate to the mainland due to family reasons.

Then I leased a new '09 Maxima (pretty nice car, actually) but walked into a heckuva deal on a used '09 G37 Journey 7AT Sedan and found out the Maxima actually held its value really well after a year-and-a-half, I was able to trade it for enough to actually pay off the lease already.

So here I am with a (significantly to me) faster car, and the first thing I did was rush out and buy wheels tires:

Some interesting things I noticed coming back to the G from the Max -

1) the Maxima requires a firm foot on the brake to keep it from creeping at stops, no such issue with the G
2) in Manual Mode, the shifts are crisp and IMMEDIATE with the Maxima, it takes a fraction of a second with the G
3) LOVE the G's Homelink! Max was a base "S" model, had to use the separate gate and garage remotes, hated them rattling around in the console
4) flooring the Max in "D" brought IMMEDIATE acceleration, with the G it takes a second before she realizes I want to Go
5) stiffer gas pedal and much lighter brake pedal effort with the G vs. Max
6) G rear seats do not fold down (dang, I forgot all about that, my '07 had the same thing) and the G only has that narrow ski-equipment pass-through

Well that's all for now, glad to be back!

Regards and Aloha,

Interesting comparison, fwd auto nissans always seem to have a faster shifting tranny.
