Worth waiting for the 2011's?
I'm just starting to look at getting a new car and I really like what I'm hearing (and seeing) about the G37s (coupe/AWD). But as I understand it the 2011s are going to be a fairly significant update, is this true? If so my inclination is to wait it out until they arrive...
Cheers!

Thanks for the link
I really don't see a total revision happening for 2011. Too soon after investing money in updates for 2010. Earliest I could see would be late 2011 as a 2012 model.

Its possible that the coupe will receive the same refresh in '11 that the sedan got in '10. Basically revised front bumper and headlights, interior lighting and shodo aluminum update, and possibly new colors. Other than that, the major refresh won't be out until 12 or 13 model year.
My recommendation would be to get a 2010 G37 now before the G25 comes out in the fall. I foresee Infiniti beginning to sightly raise the base price of the G37 to create a larger gap between it and the G25.

The Sport package will finally be available on the 2011 G37x coupe. I'm not quite sure what it will include, but I'm hoping the G37x will finally get the 6MT. Most likely, however, it will just come with some aesthetic upgrades and sport seats, just like the G37xS sedan.

imo, if you can wait, hold out till the 2011's start rolling in and get a good deal on the 2010's.. should save you a couple of bucks that you can use to make your 2010 much nicer than whatever the 2011's come out with

I did this stunt with a 2009 G37x Coupe in December of 2009, right before the 2010's came out and got IMO an excellent deal. So waiting a tiny bit until the 2011's are out or within a month of being out might not be a bad idea.
Anyway, what I've heard (as rumor though, nothing I'd call fact) is that 2012 is the next generation of car, possibly to come out late 2011. If the sedan is first or if both the sedan and coupe come out at the same time, I have no idea.
SO...only going with a rumor but if the rumor is true the 2011's will just be a small revamp again, 2012 is the next real change in generation. So unless you want to wait for the next generation regardless of when it's out, might as well get a 2010.

Well yeah, I probably wasn't clear but kind of what I was suggesting. Again why I got a 2009 in December 2009, right before the 2010's came out, the change between a 2009 coupe and 2010 coupe is pretty minor and I got an excellent deal IMO on mine. And again a 2011 is probably still this generation of car, I'm assuming/guessing that the next generation is the 2012's.

Mercedes parts? I haven't heard that one, just that the present rumor is that 2012 will be the next generation of G, and that there will be a hybrid G using a 3.5 liter engine and an electric motor. The "standard" will still be a gasoline engine though, at least a 3.7 again.
