Most cars switch body styles every 4 years, I doubt there is too much more they will change on the G other than some "bells and whistles". 2008 was the start of the G37 body change from the G35, so body wise, don't expect anything drastic till 2012.

Hello, all! Newbie here.

Some of the biggest complaints I've heard about the current G37 is that the paint chips too easily. The 2011 models, across the board for all Inifiniti models, will have Scratch Shield Paint as standard.

For those of you with '08-'10 models, is this a worthwhile feature to wait for on this car?

The Scratch Shield paint isn't anything new. The '09 G had it and then they discontinued it for the '10 models. Now they are bringing it back for the '11 models. It doesn't seem to help with paint chips at all.

I have an '09 with the scratch shield paint. I got a light scratch, and it won't come out. Wet sanding, rubbing compound, buffing... nothing works. After some buffing, the scratch seems to disappear, but then comes back 30 seconds later. It's almost like the paint is self-unhealing!

Plus, the clear Invisible Shield is terrible. It might be protecting the paint underneath, but it looks horrible in the process. It's starting to peel around the edges, and i have to go along the edges of it with a horsehair brush after waxing the car to remove the white build-up. All-in-all, I would *much* rather have chips in the paint than deal with all of this mess.

If you're interested in the manual trans it might be worth it to compare the 10' or 11' to the 09' to see if they've improved the clutch action.

The clutch take-up on the 09' is a bit grabby and takes time to get accustomed to, something that shouldn't be necessary with a premium car.

When I test drove a used 07' Carrera and 07' 3 Series BMW I was instantly comfortable with the clutch action, whereas, the G took a good bit of time.
